Description

We were directed here by a police officer from Village Green park. There are bathrooms open all night and we were told it is patrolled by police for safety. Nice green space and tennis courts that are popular at least on a Saturday morning. 4 bars VZ LTE/5G. Spent the night here with two other vans, no issues. The parking lot is not too big though, not much room for anything much larger than a van.
Enjoy!

Was a rad spot. Stayed a few times in January with no issues, most of the times there were many other vans/campers, as well. However on this occasion, about 4 cop cars rolled up with their lights on and told us no one can be here past sunset. If that’s the new order, definitely don’t recommend trying to stay. The police presence is heavy on Key Biscayne and they seem like they have nothing to do but bother people causing no trouble/noise. (Great job, guys. 👍🏻) CLOSED. 😢

Nice and quiet place to sleep. As mentioned before, there is the lady who feeds the cats and telling you to leave. She is talking a lot of none sense so we didn’t listened and stayed. The park closes at sunset but we hadn’t any issues while staying. There is still the covid testing around 8am at the end of the parking lot and mosquitoes even during the day. Toilets not the cleanest but ok and there is a water bottle filling station, bbq and tables.

Report Check-In

Came here with the intent to stay over night. I made dinner and as I was cleaning up I saw a woman pull up who was bringing food and clean water for the cats in the area. She had names for them and they seemed to know her.

I proceeded to clean up from dinner and then left to drive a few blocks down the road to the beach. I came back a few hours later and began to set up for the night. The woman then comes back again for the second time with more food for the cats. She then warns me that I should not sleep there as it is not safe. According to her there are 4-5 homeless men who tend to use the park at night and cause a commotion. She said the cops would be by soon to let me know to leave. She was certain that no cop would tell anyone to come here (closes at 6:30) but did confirm that the other parks on the island had issues and that was why overnight parking is no longer allowed. I decided to take her advice and leave since I was not welcome.

As I was packing up, the woman came back maybe 3 minutes later, and recommends the CVS down the road. I went and there was too much action, road noise, and light for my liking. Wouldn’t be a horrible spot if that’s your thing; open 24/7 and a good amount of room. I ended up moving to a Home Depot on the opposite side of Miami instead.

As for more details about the park, the bathrooms were poorly maintained, but fully functional. There were picnic tables as previously described. Basic park but wouldn’t be the worst I’ve seen. Even during the day there were quite a lot of mosquitoes. Besides that and a few cats, that was about all of the wildlife.

We spent two nights here. There are police at night at the entrance to the parking lot. They didn't tell us anything. It is a quiet place. There are toilets, tables and barbecues.

Dark and quiet several other vans here no issues except rooster starts crowing at 530 ish. Has bathrooms

We slept very well, grove, bathrooms, barbecue with tables and benches, light, hopefully we found 1 plug that let us charge cell phones at night but in the morning it didn't work, tennis courts and trail. 7 am cyclists and tennis players came. At 8am they placed COVID test tents so we left. Ideal to spend the night free.

Report Check-In

We stayed here one night with no problems. Arrived a little before sunset and left around 8am. Two other vans stayed overnight as well. Parking lot did fill up in the morning for tennis courts and the mobile COVID testing site set-up.

I stayed here with one other van. The bathrooms aren’t the cleanest but they are open all night. There is no streetlights so it can be quite dark. There was a police officer that stayed at the entrance, I’m guessing watching for speeders on the main road. They had their lights flashing a couple times but I didn’t hear any sirens. Not my favorite park overnight but it was nice to not leave the island.

Originally came here at the suggestion of the police at Village Green Park, who said that they had been getting complaints about vehicles parked there overnight. Despite the sign saying that Calusa Park closes at sundown and that overnight parking is not allowed, I slept here for 2 nights without incident. There were a few other vans also parked overnight. I arrived after dark and left in the morning.

Relatively quiet except for a rooster that starts calling around 4:30. I’d recommend ear plugs.

There is a mobile COVID-19 testing clinic that sets up near the rear of the parking lot so be careful about not blocking them from setting up.
