Mexico
We drove with our van through this town from the Copper Canyon to Alamos. We haven't been in danger, nobody were hostile, but we saw heavy armed people in the street (no cops) and everybody were staring at us. We didn't feel safe, even if we just crossed the town (no choice, you have to do it if you take this road). It's definitely Narcos territory.
Also, the road is not paved and really tough in the mountain, be prepared if you decide to drive there.
Safe drive to y'all

During our visit we saw no obvious evidence of cartel activity. No armed personnel in the streets were observed.

Report Check-InWe travel that road back in 2020 and the locals already told us, that this town is Cartel Area with gold mines and drugs around and a new airstipe. They told us to sleep at the pemex which was totally save and quite with a night employee watching you.
