Description

Lunji Coffee Farm is a really nice farm just at the bottom of Mt Mbeya. It is owned by Clemens, a German, and his wife. They have no real campsite but offer camping in their wonderful garden with lots of flowers and an amazing few of Mt Mbeya. They opened a room for us so we could use the bathroom, good shower with hot water. Paul and Diana, the owners son and his wife, run the coffee farm now. They gave us an interesting insight in the coffee production and we could buy freshly roasted coffee directly from the farm.
They also plan to establish a real campsite on the property in the forest. But for now it is the beautiful garden. We paid 10 US $ for the two of us.
We could also arrange a hike to Mt Mbeya with one of the farm workers as a guide. We paid him 30 000 TSH for the tour.
Really worth a visit.

We wanted to do the coffee tour unfortunately it is closed on Sunday.

We walked from Utengule to Lunji, nice walk through the villages and fields. We chose to stay at Utengule so the kids could use the pool and other sports and games families, but didn't want to miss out on Lunji. Wise decision; Paul and Diana are so kind, and Lunji is simply beautiful! Wonderful garden, coffee farm is so impressive, and Paul is super passionate and told us all about the process, very insightful. And the coffee is something else; definitely go here and buy some of his special blends!

We happily came back - see our review of June 13 for details. This time had the opportunity of a coffee tour with Paul which was a highly instructive crash course in coffee science.

A beautiful garden to camp in. Farmer/Owner Clemens opened a room for the shower. It's a long way from town due to Mbeya traffic and the 12km track to the farm. Good if you need a retreat for a day.

Everything like TETtravel describes, our favourite place with the kindest people. We love it here and will come again.

Lovely place where you are invited to stay in the garden of the farm house. Nice outdoor seating area with electricity. Extremely warm welcome. But no signs are indicating the access on a pretty rough road and not on T4A, so use coordinates and OSM data for navigation. But it is worthwile so overall highly recommended.

We drove up to the farm but unfortunately no one was there. We waited around two hours and then decided to leave. If you want to go here best to contact the owners beforehand. Have to say the property and garden looked amazing and would have made a great stay.

Oh wow what a special place. One of the highlights of our whole trip so far. The setting is beautiful in the family garden which is full of dozens of types of flowers and fruit trees, and with more trees, the coffee plantation and mountains in the background. There's an undercover area with outdoor couches and electricity. They will open a room for you with hot water and toilet etc.
The family are so kind and helpful and Paul especially is one of the most genuine, kind and humble people we've met. He gave us so many tips and places to get things done in Mbeya and on our last night we fired up the new pizza oven and had a lovely night with him & his wife Deana(?). The coffee tour (10pp) is the best we've ever done and really fun and inspiring. Finished off with a coffee tasting and fresh baked banana bread. 100% do this If you come!!
Camping 15usd for 2 people. The only thing is no sink for dishes but that's being fussy..
This was such a great find and would highly recommend to stay here if you'd like a peaceful place to stay with warm hospitality.

We have just spent a really fabulous few days here at Lunji. we camped in the beautiful garden and were made so welcome by Clemens, Stella, Paul and his lovely wife (sorry forgot your name as I was still recovering from our epic hike up Mt Mbeya). We had access to a lovely bathroom with hot water and a lovely gazebo with comfy garden furniture. During our stay we did a tour of the coffee farm with Paul which was just so interesting, we learnt so much about the process and the plans to take the farm and its community forward into the future, we even had a tasting session and have bought 2 big bags of the medium roast which we found to be delicious. We also hiked up Mt Mbeya from the farm with a local guide who was brilliant. The trek is hard and quite steep so we went slowly and took about 6 hours in total but it is so worth it for the exhileration, challenge and the views. This is such a relaxing, friendly, family run campsite and farm and well worth a stop at. Just a note, the track is bumpy and Google maps can be a little confusing but if u follow the map and ask the villagers you will find Lunji, there are 2 ways in both OK. @a.truck.called.wanda

The Lunji coffee farm was our first stop after crossing the border from Zambia to Tanzania. We landed straight in paradise. We were allowed to choose a spot on the green lawn in the middle of the exotic garden with lots of trees and flowering plants. A room was opened for us in which we could use the large and clean bathroom. There is a beautiful outdoor lounge area in the garden with a sensationally beautiful view of Mt Meru. Clemens and Stella, who have been running this farm since 1994, are two hospitable and very friendly people. Paul, the eldest son, personally takes care of the roasting of the coffee beans together with his wife Diana. After studying biotechnology and training as a barista, both in Germany, he knows coffee better than anyone else. You can also do a coffee tasting with him on the farm to get to know the flavors of the different types of coffee. We bought some delicious coffee and took it with us. Together with Stella we did a walk through the Garden of Eden and were allowed to choose fresh fruits & vegetables that we bought for a very fair price. There are lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, white cabbage, leeks, peppers, lemons, papayas, avocados and much more in top bio-quality, better than at the markets. On the farm and the adjacent lands you can take beautiful, long walks, and the very ambitious can also climb Mt Meru from the farm. We loved this place and ended up staying there for a few days.

Great place and people! Everything is still as described before. We camped in the beautiful, big garden for 4 days and got a really interesting farm tour by paul. We were also able to help picking coffee for one day. Hard work but a good experience! The farm is environmental and social sustainable. And their coffee is really the best we had in whole africa!

This is really the Backyard of the Family running the farm, so maybe contact them over Instagram or the like in advance to let them know you will be stoping by.

It was a beautiful place, a room with showers and a bathroom were opened for us and make sure you ask Paul to give you a Tour of the Farm! I can only recommend staying here if you want some quiet outside of Mbeya

It was a very pleasant sta
