We slept here one night in front of the lake, it’s a picnic spot so some locals come here to swim and eat, but it was very quiet at night.
We met 2 police officers when we arrived and asked permission to stay, and it was ok. Enjoy the place it’s close to shops and restaurants.

Well ventilated place and close to the lake. The night was calm. There is a pleasant pontoon for swimming, the water is beautiful and transparent. The friendly inhabitants come here to bathe, wash, fish. We hear howler monkeys in the distance. Nice sunset on the lake.

Report Check-Instayed here last night. The low spots and flooding that others have referred to has been filled by dirt. If it is dry the picnic parking can be very dusty. if wet, it can be mud and may need 4x4. Beautiful sunset. The copy drove after it was dark after sunset. They turned on their light as they drove by. At that time I knew it's okay to stay.
beautiful sunset by the lake. Swam where tge locals were swimming. No cross near the park. He pointed to some areas where could be cracked but they were far away from the picnic area. There were quite a few locals Speer fishing and snorkeling to collect snails.
Here is now a construction site. Very dusty and standing here is currently impossible.
Report Check-InSuper place to stay before or after visiting Tikal. Although the water was high and most of the beach flooded, there was still enough dry space to park for the night. Very clean water in the lake, great to swim and refresh. Spent a very relaxing day and absolutely quiet night. Gorgeous sunset, too!
Report Check-InNous sommes arrivés l’après-midi et l’endroit était très calme. L’eau du lac a l’air plus haute que d’habitude d’ailleurs les tables de picnic sont dans l’eau mais il y a un emplacement pour se stationner juste 50 mètres avant.
Pour ce qui est de la nuit, elle a été horrible, les chiens n’ont pas arrêté d’aboyer et le coq de chanter. C’est dingue.
Si non, en journée, l’endroit est super sympa et les gens très souriants et accueillants.

Also due the heavy rain and high water, most of the `beach` is flooded ..
had a lovely night by the lake, quite, few bikes coming back and forth , loads of shade, water source for showers from the lake, had a little dip but there are crocs!
Report Check-Inhuge space, nice shady grassy area with trees a few metres back from the lake. only thing is, the lake front is quite dirty now from discarded rubbish and there is a pipeline at lake surface level here. didnt seem super appealing to us so we moved on. but this would be a good space to camp in (under the trees)
Report Check-InA nuestro parecer es un buen spot para pasar el día y la noche, muy tranquilo, la gente local durante el día y por la tarde vienen al lago,el sábado algunos vienen por la noche pero son personas tranquilas nadie nos molestó, dormimos 2 noches aquí.
puedes ir caminando a la carretera principal donde hay tiendas y restaurantes.
Stopped here because we wanted a swim before heading to Tikal, and ended up staying 5 nights. Beautiful spot, good swimming, quiet and safe, very friendly locals, free. Police patrolled every night. We used the restrooms at nearby restaurants. We really enjoyed this place.
