Description

Parking permitted around the square formed by Hobbie, Cambridge, Oak and Larrabee streets. It’s flat, quiet and safe. 40 minutes walk from Millennium Park. We stayed there for 4 days without any problems.

Latest Check-Ins

Did wanna mention that across the square, 80% of the time cops were on the other side next to one of the neighborhoods over there with their lights on constantly. Also posted a pic of a car parked 3 cars back from me that had their window smashed out. I’d say be cautious.

Awesome (relatively) quiet place. Around the corner from the Chicago Police station, so many cruisers pass through this square.

Very close to the trendy Old Town. Many locals hang around this area, as it’s around the corner of Seward Park. There are people always ‘loitering’ in this park every time we’ve walked past this park, morning and night. Easy walk to the Red line or Brown line ‘L’ train stops. Very convenient to access public transit.

We stayed 5 days. No problems. That said, a fellow overlander (from Scotland) mentioned that there was a shooting one of the nights and we saw cruisers parked with lights on all day and night for a couple days.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for 6 nights in slightly different spots each night.
NOTE: On 26th May there was a shootout just 1 block south of here at 5pm.
Several lively local residents approached us & warned us that the block immediately to the south was very unsafe.
There were 2 police patrol cars parked nearby 24/7 to deter trouble.
We found the people here very nice and saw no incidents ourselves but decided to move on in case we pushed our luck.
We suggest some of the nearby streets a block or two north might be a little safer.
