Something not right?

Description

There are several free spots in this area just outside of Guerrero Negro, but adding these coordinates as a very hidden spot behind the dunes that is not visible from hwy1 or the dirt roads (as we weren’t totally satisfied with some of the other spots being a little more exposed). Very easily accessible in our 2WD Promaster, flat, tucked away behind a bush and up against a dune. 3G on Telcel (enough to Google or send messages, but not to post photos). As others have mentioned about nearby areas, there is some rubbish here (as well as several enormous and very beautiful sea shells), but we were undisturbed all night and felt quite safe.

Latest Check-Ins

This was a fine place to overnight, no one else came around while we were here. Plenty of litter and not especially pretty but it was quiet. Not a place that you would want to spend much time but it works. Turn down the paved road towards ojo de liebre and take the dirt road off to the left immediately to access this area easily. Telcell signal here somewhat.

All these dunes spots are basically the same area. The road looked better from the highway then the diatonic sic-fi salt mines that go to the Laguna Ojo Whale reserve campground. That spot is very nice but was closed (opens Dec 20th - ¿April?). These dunes are decently out of obvious sight. Seems fine despite the mentioned trash.

Be very careful and stick to the road. We tried to three point turn in a camper and got stuck. Very lucky local ranch guy drove past and helped us.

I've explored about 12 miles of good dirt two track back here, lots of out of sight options. zero trash and let's keep it that way. I got 4G on my TelCel in this area.

Fine for a layover though would likely look further north or south for somewhere a little more special and off the beaten path. Lots of trash. Had one truck drive by at dusk which was fine but we generally like to sleep when hidden from most roads. It’s a spot to layover nonetheless.

Good in a pinch, but not particularly pretty. It was free, close to the highway, and I was unbothered.

Nice, quiet spot. Could be beautiful except it’s loaded with garbage. Slow Tecel service. Our dog loved running around the dunes and roads! Pretty, short hiking around there.

This spot is as described. a bit trashy and hidden from the road. there are better free spots in Baja, but this was the closest and glad to have it when needed last night. quiet. no one bothered us. some Telcel signal. level spot easy to get to. we kept our dog on leash and close by due to coyotes (which we didn't see).

A good amount of trash but good enough to stay out of sight for a night. Not really a place to camp, just a quick stopover.

Report Check-In

flat, a bit trashy, good full turn around for trailers or bigger rigs. Bit bumpy coming in but nothing crazy, took our time. Safe and quiet throughout the night. Shortly after sunset some local national guard showed up to tell us there were "crazy people in the area" and that it wasn't safe for us here with our stuff (overlanding trailer with motorcycles). One other camper nearby, no one bugged us.
