Closed. No signage but police showed up and cleared everyone out this morning. They said it’s “your responsibility to know local ordinances, and it’s illegal to sleep in your vehicle in the state of North Carolina whether there’s signage saying so or not.” They said locals had been complaining. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Confirming that this IS open and there are NO “no overnight parking” signs!! I looked all over and around the lot. (Perhaps there was a time when they didn’t allow it but that is not the case now).

Stayed here last night in our conversion van with no problems next to another vehicle also being slept in. The street parking also seems to be an option for overnight, there was a skoolie and mini van parked in front of this lot all night.

Felt super safe and didn’t notice any cars pull in after 11pm. The walking trial is super nice and there are a few river access points. Public restrooms, bars, a brewery, and restaurants are all within walking distance.

There are no signs whatsoever indicating overnight parking is not allowed here. in fact, the entire week I have been in Asheville there have been at least 2 or 3 campers here each night. No issues. There is a variety of free public parking in the River Arts District area which make for good spots to spend a night, just don't abuse them and you'll be fine.

Just pulled up and clearly marked no camping or overnight parking. Time to find another option.

stayed for 1 night with no issues.
there were about 10 other vans, buses and vehicles who camped overnight. about a 5 minute walk along the trails to public restrooms. live music across the street started around 9pm and went until roughly 12am.
nice spot to stay at, felt safe, nice view of the river.

as described by others, level gravel parking lot right next to the river and a bike path in downtown Asheville. six other vehicle stayed overnight including our 24 ft class C. very convenient and comfortable spot. a gold line for us was the wonderful Asheville piano bar across the street from us. every Friday Saturday and Sunday they have live performances, Friday night being Blues and it was absolutely fantastic music. heads up though: you have to show that you are double vaxed to get in. prior to the music we went for a walk along the river and had great fusion tacos at the White Duck

Great place to park. Walking or biking trail along the river. Many locals use the trail but no issues parking for night. There were 9 of us parked for night and one guy had been there several nights. Asheville is a great place to visit and spend time at.

dirt/rock parking lot with a couple of concrete areas that would be good for bigger vans or small RV's. kind of deep puddles. I was the only person parked here last night.

Very safe, quiet spot (except for the train in the middle of the night). Was a great spot to sleep. There were other vans here too.

Gravel lot along the french broad river walk in the river arts district of Asheville. Was told by the owner of the bar across the street that people boondocks here for weeks on end. Safe area right on the river, walking distance to shops, bars, and food. Across the street from Cotton Mill studios

Really good spot, I spent a couple nights with no issue. Some other vanpeople around as well.
