Description

This is a beautiful spot to camp. We used the shower and also plugged into the electricity from one of the palapa huts. 300 pesos for the night. Dog friendly. Downside: no cell service. The owner said they are getting wifi in the future. Worth a stop Place for 4-5 campers, right at the Laguna. With water access. Very quiet during the week. You can rent a kayak, swim or book some tours.
Very nice place with nice people. You can use showers (cold) and toilet.
Price 300 Pesos/Night

The Balneario has a restaurant as well, but service is not frequent, so bring what you need. In Buenavista you have several Abarrotes but no big stores.

No electricity no water
Shower woman condemned/ shower man very dirty
There was a change of ownership a few months ago and the site does not seem really maintained and operated as a whole…
Add to that a lot of mosquitoes really a lot, impossible to stay outside except when you bathe in the lagoon…

200 pesos / night

Report Check-In

Looks not closed, there were two other campers, but we didn’t stay. It was nice, but quite dirty. The trash was flipped over and nobody cared. Good to reach with a big truck.

Report Check-In

Nice place to swim and enjoy the lagune but I would not recommend this place for RVs. No amenities…no dumping, no electricity and we had difficulties to fill the tank of water !…
It seems that the new owner is no as good and Nice as the old one…it’s a Pity because the place could be great !

If you've had a chance to stay at Balneario Buenavista then you've been lucky enough to meet Javier and his wonderful family (and 11 dogs). We left today under a cloud of sadness as Javier lost his bid to remain the proprietor of this unique property in Bacalar. The Pueblo's leadership decided to turn Balneario Buenavista over to new ownership group in ten days from today (June 5, 2023). Whether camping will be available after June 15th is unknown, though does seem unlikely. This was our first and only time staying with Javier but my family and I can see why, even in its rustic state, this property receives such high marks from the overlanding community - it is the people who make the difference. If you still have Javier's number I'm sure he would love to hear from past guests as he packs up and prepares to leave his little slice of heaven.

we had a beautiful weekend here. really good vibes with other overlanders. the place is cute and quiet, the owner is super friendly and helpful. 150pp

Report Check-In

Wonderful location and the most excellent of campsite hosts. We can’t say enough about how hospital Javier was from providing extra extension leads to ensure we could connect to electricity ( and with no extra charge to the 300pesos for us and our Overlander) to pop by periodically to check all was good. Great nature and really added to our stay.
In terms of the location- it’s away from all but a few basic shops, which we liked. Being by the water there were Doctor Flies etc but that’s kind of power for the course in the rainy season.

We stayed 5 nights here - it was great. Excellent location, waterfront with lots of trees. Bathroom/showers were in pretty good shape and usually had hand soap, paper towels and toilet paper (a plus in Mexico). No electricity when we were there. If its important to you, call ahead. Owner was extremely nice and helpful. Large parking area, good for bigger RVs - a bit steep at the end of the entrance (we cleared it by about 2”.

We enjoyed our stay here. Nice little place to swim and chill. Just a few visitors on saturday. We rent a kayak for a hour and paid only 75 Pesos. There are showers, toilets and good wifi free to use. Playground for kids and dog friendly (owner has three or more dogs, they just bark if you come close to their home).

Nice place, great swimming and nice people. There is plenty of shade to park in and hang out during the day. The view is great especially in the morning when then sun rises over the water.

Restaurant is only open on Saturday but if you walk up the stairs to the main street there is a house on the left hand side that sells really decent pizzas for 120 pesos (there is a sign on the fence).

Fantastic place! The lake and the water is so nice. There is ok WiFi and the management(Javier and his wife) are really nice!

Report Check-In

Didn't stay, apparently it was 200PP because we were on motorbikes and had a tent. 2 families staying here in RVs were only paying 300 for the family...

Calme, zen. Wc et douche possible.

Very well run campsite with very nice management. During the week we were alone at the campsite with one tables and sun loungers. Sunday it was very busy with locals. But it was still surprisingly quiet. The only thing you have to consider is that you don't have a power connection.

100 Peso/Person
50 for the camper

nice place to relaxe and take a swim in this beautiful Laguna. we slept amazing. when we where there electricity didn't work at the parking but they do have wifi right now around the restrooms nd the restaurant

Watch a beautiful place. Lagoon is very nice, there are sketchy waterslides for kids, just be careful as parts are missing...
We could watch the stars from the dock and we were the only one sleeping here. In the morning, we could see the start of a kayak and paddle board race as the sun rises. Yoga on the dock and swimming again. I highly recommend it, as Javier is very friendly and helpful.

Quel bel endroit!

Incredible spot for 250 pesos a night. The lagoon is beautiful and very nice for swimming, not very deep with sand on the ground
Moreover Javier is the most welcoming owner that we had on all the campsites of Mexico.
We really recommend this place

Great place to stay for a night (or more!). For cyclists it's 100 pesos pp.
Toilets, cold showers, Wifi, kayak rentals, good vibe.
There's few little shops in the village for snacks and drinks. It's possible to get drinks here too.
Our tent is right by the lake and there's shade under the trees.
The owner is really nice and the whole place is clean and quiet.

Not Much More to Add to this except it is Definately open for Business. It is definitely Big Rig Friendly.
This place is a little gem. You can park on the waters edge. The lake is perfect for swimming or Kayaking. We had a nice cool onshore breeze which was very welcoming. The owner Javier and his assistant Vicky are lovely and very welcoming. It is a little gem . . No Internet, but Javier is working on this .

We really enjoyed this place. Second previous reviews. Owner and employees were very nice. You can park right by the water. It’s quiet, more busy on weekends/holidays, but even then no loud music etc.
This place has been a camping spot for a long time, but was closed for a bit during Covid and the place was marked closed hence not many pics and reviews on here.
