United States
Large lot at recreation entrance good for campervan, rvs, and rigs. No amenities or water. Wild camping from October to April. BLM recreational maps say 14 day max. Mercy Hot Springs down the road for a fee.
closed to vehicle traffic; you can bike, hike, or ride your horse. It's a 3.5-mile road uphill the whole way just to get to the BLM access gate. There is no water out there, and it is only accessed by vehicles, so restricting vehicles is essentially a closure. This is not a temporary closure, it is closed. There was quiet public comment period which was not widely known and we have lost access to our public lands.

Legal safe, place to camp for the night off of Little Pinoche Road
Was very quiet I don’t think a single car went by last night. Easy off the road parking room for almost any size rig great new spot found.
So the gate is locked (sign says April- October). But the parking lot area is fairly big. We stayed 3 nights over the weekend. Saturday was fairly busy but empty in the evenings and night. Really beautiful place! Checkout the mineral springs just down the street for a day pass!
Report Check-InStayed at the main lookout point. pit toilet available. arrived at 5ish close to sunset, left about 6am. no one there, no one around. Wonderfully quiet.
Report Check-InGreat! As a solo female traveler I also felt safe there- be aware 15 min drive in from where coordinates take you- cold and windy but I was in a van so sheltered from wind.
Gorgeous
No shooters, so quiet and fairly clean. nice views. inconsistent cell service. Can go from 4 bars 4g to no signal without moving.
Report Check-InBeautiful place to stay the night. Arrived 3pm and people shoot guns in the distance. No problem. Clean pit toilet.
Nice sunset and lights of californian cities down below. Would stay a week if I had time.
Large spot with nice views and a pit toilet. Quite windy though. The drive is 4 miles untill you get to the parking lot.
Report Check-InGood area off the I-5 but definitely away from the noise of the freeway. Slept very well in my car and it was dark. There is access to a bathroom and some picnic benches as well. When I woke up at the lookout point (where I pulled over to sleep), it was beautiful in the morning. Great spot for a morning tea.
As a solo female I felt pretty safe here. I’ve read that people have mentioned this is an area where others like to shoot guns, luckily when I stayed there wasn’t any shooting happening (so it was nice and quiet). Also had two bars of service here with T-Mobile.
Note when you make that turn into Panoche Access Road, you will need to drive about 3 miles before you get to the spots you can camp. Apparently the first 3 miles is just an easy access road into the recreation area.
Report Check-InGets a little dicey with numb nuts not checking out their fields of fire but super chill at night and as about off the grid as you can get. Don’t go off the road more than 15’ rangers are super serious about damage to the environment. RV’s are best left in the parking lots, especially if it’s wet and muddy
PICK UP YOUR TRASH PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!
And
Maybe if your kind pick up somebody else’s too or they will close this place down :(
