Description

Small town at the edge of the salt flats. The hospedaje is relatively new (some amenities are still being built). We got a room with 2 single beds for 30bs, with secure parking in the courtyard. There were also nicer rooms available for 100bs. There is a nice dining room to sit and eat, there is a kitchen however only the sink works at the moment, which was fine because we just used our cooker in there. The lady who runs it is really nice, but can be difficult to find. We only found this place by asking some locals, it's off the main road down a side street towards the flats and is not signposted yet. The courtyard gate door is red and the building is new & beige.

10 p for warm shower
option for dinner for additional 20p
(not too much other options..)

Report Check-In

We arrived at Hospedaje Franz at 3pm and we were welcomed by a friendly lady who is taking care of the place whilst the owner is away. You just have to knock on the door. The owner returned in the evening. Very clean matrimonial room for 50 BOB pp with private bathroom and warmish shower (electrical). There are a few tiendas serving basic food at the plaza from 7pm. In the afternoon you might find some chicharron as well. Overall we found the place an excellent resting spot before crossing the Salar on bicycle.

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay before/after a ride the salar.
30B/p with shared toilets (no shower) or 50B/p for matrimonial with private bathroom (hot shower). We had also dinner+breakfast in the common room for 20B pp.

There is usually nobody during the day but it is still open, if you arrive early it may be necessary to wait until 6 or 5pm for somebody to come (may depends...)

Report Check-In

We knocked at the door and asked for a room, but they said no. Maybe it‘s only closed during rain season.

Report Check-In

Place is totally fine. Only 30/b, loads of secure parking, electricity, running water, view of the salt flat. Wouldn't expect more in this relatively isolated a location.

Cheap and tranquil place to hang out if you can get over the cold temps at night.

There's no sign but the GPS location is correct.

Report Check-In

It was fine. 50 bol pp for a matrimonial with bathroom (cold shower). Got breakfast for 5 Bol pp, with eggs! We had dinner at the square, there are some small tiendas that also cook dinner (also for take away) for 10 bol pp.

we stayed 2 days there because I felt sick when we left coqueza with our bikes. they were really nice with them and understood the situation. they said it's 30bol pp with cold shower or 50bol pp for matrimonial. they even gave us a matrimonial for 30bol but locked the door of the shower. we slept all day.
you can eat a menu there the night for 20bol and it was good.
things got worse when we asked the next day for a shower. she said that there were no shower and started getting angry. we tried to tell her that she said there were cold shower but she replied it broke... the day of our arrival (of course). after some argue we could use their shower (hot) for 10bol pp and we need to be very very fast because it costs energy... Nice way to set up an hospedaje business...
On the map Tuaha looks bigger than Coqueza but you have more choice for accommodation in Coqueza (and cheaper)

Report Check-In

ah well...backpacking brought us to town and since everybody was drinking at "the festival" (in Alianza and Salinas).
Franz offered 30bol for dorm without shower (10extra) or 50pp for matrimono with shower. The shower did not work (electrical head device)....so cold water only. Kitchen use was not possible because well...Franz is a greedy man. He does not share gas or electricity and just wants the MONEY. He answered that we couldn't find anything else in town either way....or we should go to the Salt Hotel. Conversation went a little downhill on that point and I was disappointed to have the same experience than others before me here.
If you ask me, NO GOOD PLACE! :( (doesn't offer services, does not care for tourists (unfriendly to a certain point), asks big price)
YOU SHOULD absolutely check other place in town before this one!

Report Check-In

visited a second time. Apparently the administrator changed and was available only over telefone. She asked for 120bs this time. We didnt stay. Stayed in Maya Hostal two villages up the road which was also nice and a lot cheaper.
Just ask, the place is nice. Might change her mind about the price.

really nice little hostel with new facilities and friendly owner. There is a comfy common room and we were allowed to use the kitchen. Secure parking. Can also negotiate to use only the parking and the common rooms (20bs). There are rooms for 50bs/p or for 30bs/p. Showers are still cold (might change when the construction is finished).

Report Check-In

there is no sign outside. it is the last small road to turn left before driving to the desert.

30bobs per person. nice rooms but very cold at night, we used our sleeping bags as well as blankets. no hot water and no shower. you need to ask the owners in the morning, apparently is available but we didnt try as there was nobody around to ask.
kitchen is available and dining room but is locked when they are not around. you will not be able to use a kitchen after 7-8 as they save electricity.
overall it would be a nice place if they could understand travelers more, that after a whole day driving in cold on a motorcycle you might need to wash and warm up a bit. it is ok place and cheap and there isnt much choice. Lama Mateo is very cute :)
