This is possibly the best site I've visited across Canada. I'm not sure I should even share for fear it gets ruined.
On Wildlife Management Area land, local volunteers have developed a number of equestrian trails and campsites.
This is on a ridge overlooking the Souris River.
No facilities, except what may be a pit toilet, minimal phone service.
Not suitable for any large vehicles/trailers, small camper or tent only.
An absolute gem of rural Manitoba. Keep it that way!
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
great spot for a small rig (were in a Tab) to park. stunning view overlooking the river. there was a fire ring and we wished we brought some wood w/ us.
Report Check-Inas stated before, beautiful spot above the river. so many animal sounds from nearby birds and squirrels and off in the far distance elk and coyotes (don't quote me on that though, they could just be very whimpery dogs).
long but well maintained dirt road to get here but still maintains LTE connection
what a spot! there's an area by the cliff overlooking the river with an established fire pit with an amazing sunset view.
mosquitoes at dusk and lots of field mice (so maybe don't leave your doors open). absolutely silent with lots of birds to listen to. no sign of ticks in june.
we attempted to bike the trails but they were extremely muddy while everything else was dry. roads are gravel and hilly. secure loose objects prior to entry, you will be rocking from side to side!
zero garbage. thanks for keeping it clean!
Report Check-InStunning views overlooking the river. Driving south, turned left before the bridge and continued short distance to where the river is in view. No space to turn around, must reverse out. Could also fit a few small vehicles near the trailhead (no privacy). Lots of bugs but otherwise very peaceful. No services. Decent cell signal with antenna. Leave no trace - let's keep this one pristine.
Report Check-InThere for 2 nights August 2021, All alone. Beautiful hikes using map displays at junctions.. Two unserviced 'staging areas ' .one just north of a Bailey bridge, second a few km further downstream. A real gem. Keep it that way.
