It's a good spot. As of now the road is clear all the way in and up to the forestry road end where the snowmobile trail starts.
Eventually you'll come upon the camp sites after you pass the water access. They are along the road on both sides. While that may not bother some, I don't care for it. The snow on the ground also reveals there have been vehicles in and out and there's also foot traffic. Even though it's off in the woods, it's obviously a known spot.
Good Luck!!

Beautiful and quiet with ample space to park. However, there are many downed trees on the road in, and we were threading the needle with our 24’ x 8’ x 12’ high rig, so I wouldn’t attempt anything larger. We also had a problem with directions since google wouldn’t load directions to the pin, and maps.me wanted to take us to the wrong place, but good old fashioned map reading skills worked to get us there. And, as mentioned below, mosquitoes and flies are bad, and our dogs picked up lots of ticks just from the roadside. Despite all that, we’d do it again.

A great spot. From Beauty Lake Road (the “main” road through Pillsbury Forest) turn north onto the packed dirt forest road that is just west of the boat access parking, which is to the south of the main road and a few miles from the turnoff from CR-1. About a half mile or so down the road the turnouts begin. Three in total, I believe, with fire rings; plus some more area where one could park overnight. In mid August the grasses are HIGH and bugs a huge problem. Having said that I walked the loop of the road in the morning, nearly 6 miles, and was attached by mosquitoes but loved it anyway. I parked at the first fire ring I came to and was flat enough without blocks. 2-3bars VZN LTE. I’d absolutely come back.

Nice, quiet spot overall, considering this is Minnesota... lots of ticks though, as expected. only two cars drove by the 18 hours we were there.

Nice place to stay, saw a total of 3 sites with fire rings. A few beer cans/plastic which we cleaned up. Hunters showed up in the morning. Very good stars.

Nice little over night spot with a fire ring. Could have stayed longer, but have places to be. Worth the trek if your in the area.

Enjoyed 2 nights boondocking here. Very peaceful & quiet listening to the wind blown trees. Ranger
