Free large 6(ish) site loop. Some spots have fire rings and some have picnic tables. Honestly, a ton of campers and tents could fit here. There are no toilets of any kind, or running water. Awesome view of the lake. The long gravel road will deter a lot of people, so its totally worth going the 8 mile road because you will surely find a spot.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Big open area, access from the main road bit narrow for heavy duty truck but doable.
Report Check-InThe way to the Lake is definately worth it. Before you get there you go past 8 other official campsites where you can stay, at the lake itself there are a couple pull-offs and a large spot right next to it. No service and mosquitos were really bad.
Report Check-Inthe road is open and you can stay here. great spot on the upper level, but can go down right to the water. it's not real level at the bank of the lake. kinda tight to turn around. we backed out. the location is right on the water. you can drive a bit forward and park in the trees, but mosquitoes and bugs deter that
Report Check-InEntire road closed. Rangers mentioned it usually is open by now but didn’t give a reason why it wasn’t open.
Report Check-InI was feeling so discouraged after passing campsite after campsite and they were all full. Finally, I arrived at the Grassy Creek Reservoir and, just before the dam, found this lovely single campsite overlooking the entire reservoir. It’s not an official campsite, but there is a notice about grizzly bears and food storage on one of the trees, so I believe it is sanctioned by the Forest Service. There is also an established fire pit and lots of space for tents and flat space for your Sprinter. What a gift!
