Description

Free primitive camping at Mallards Fishing Access on the Yellowstone River. Has 1 vault toilet- seems clean, weak to moderate Verizon extended LTE (enough to post this). Room for several rigs both large and small. Gravel road in is well maintained, easy to access. There are tracks to drive further out along the bank of the river for more privacy for maybe 100yrds down from the gravel put in area. Several fire rings sighted. Max stay 7 days. Close to Bighorn Canyon. A bit buggy in June… site maintained by Montana FWP. Stayed 1 night, pulled in late Sat afternoon- was the only one there. Quiet, clean no one bothered us.

Great spot next to the river. Quiet, farmland. Fishermen come and go but not very busy. Room for several rigs around the parking area. Fire restrictions at this time. Very good signal with AT&T.

Awesome wild camping spot. The Bighorn River is beautiful. Birdlife amazing - eagles, osprey, white pelicans, sandhill cranes, blue herons, lots of ducks and small birds. Mayflies by the thousands. No biting insects. No other campers on a holiday weekend. Vault toilet was very clean. Highly recommend this site. Camping allowed for up to 7 nights.
