Description

Town park that allows 1 free overnight stay. Dry camping.

Rules / customs unclear - I and another camper stayed parked on Spruce St border of park, though sign says only in “parking lot”. Unsure what “parking lot” it refers to. Sign also says permission required (from town office across the street), but nearby resident says permission is required only to use the central water tap - free to camp at will. There is a dump station, don’t know if it’s working or if permission is required.

Room on Spruce Street for maybe 4 big rigs or maybe 8 smaller ones.

Got a T-Mobile signal. Did not get a Verizon signal.

Very clean park with a nice river walk. Busy until 6:30pm this time of year. I parked on Spruce St in my Transit Connect and two dogs.

Worked well for us. Got here and left in the dark so couldn’t see much. Parked road side at park, very quiet.

Water and dump are free. There is a sign right by the water pump!

We stayed here for one night, as per the one night rule, and it was safe, clean, and peaceful. The police drive through and wave. The sign says to stay in the parking lot and I think they mean the large lot to the right of the bathrooms, not in the park, itself, where people park to enjoy the place. Pretty riverwalk, picnic tables and a short walk to town. If you stay here, consider spending a few dollars in town as a thank you. A fun brewery, a great, natural food store, a few coffee shops. Del Norte needs some love, please give them some.

Report Check-In

Spoke to a friendly town employee who says a) dump station works and visitors are welcome to use it and b) visitors are welcome to use central water tap - warning sign “we are watching you” is to scare off farmers who come and take hundreds of gallons of water at a time. Town of Del Norte is “recovering” from economic decline - new people moving in and the town welcomes them.
