United States
Open May 1st until September 1st
State park campground, nice and quiet near St. Louis. I arrived late on Memorial Day so no one was at the park office. Lots of spots open even on a holiday. Water, pit toilets, and some other minimal facilities. Adequate AT&T signal. I’m in a camper van but you could fit big rigs here easily.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Le camping ouvre du 1e mai au 1e septembre. Nous avons dormi dans le stationnement. Pas été dérangés.
Report Check-In$8 sites. Gates stay open all night. They check early in the morning to see if you paid the fee (before 8am, can’t say exactly how early tho). Campground closes after Sep 30th
Report Check-In$8… yes, you read that right! Large, flat, grassy sites surrounded by beautiful trees that will accommodate any size rig. 26 sites but lightly used. We stayed two nights and only saw two other campers each night. The low $8 fee is for everyone; no senior pass needed. It’s dry camping with no water or hook ups but pit toilets and trash cans are provided as well as a picnic table and fire ring in each site. 20 minutes to downtown St. Louis. There is also a free dump station for campers but no potable water. This is the best deal in town when visiting St. Louis!
Report Check-InGreat value in this campground! There was hardly anyone here on a Wednesday evening in September. The sites are level with grass and trees behind them. Amazingly, the fee is still $8. There is a dump station included in that price, but without potable water. We are only about 15 minutes from downtown St. Louis so this place is a gem.
Report Check-InVery Nice campground at the end of the State Park. Check in a the office (big building with usa flag) at the main entrance (8$).
Pit toilet, dumpster, firering & picnic table for each site and 2 spigots available inside the campground.
Big rig friendly
Park closed for season - open May 1 to Sept 30
According to their website :
“Horseshoe Lake State Park accommodates 26 tent or trailer campsites. A sanitary dump station, pit toilets, and water hydrants are conveniently located. The campground is open from May 1 - Sept 30. Campers can stay a maximum of 7 days in a 30 day period. We do not take reservations for camping. “
This is not a legitimate spot. It is a parking area en route to the official campground. Pay your $8 and get a ice site with picnic table and fire ring plus a pit toilet. Register at the park office on the way in.
Report Check-InVery quiet and nice simple campground. The sites are very big with trees and fire pits + tables. Pit toilets ok. 8$ per night for an RV, good deal pretty closed from St Louis (15 min drive). The campground is not directly on the lake though.
Report Check-InShortly after midnight we were kicked out by the park police saying the park is only open until 10 pm, so we had to look for another spot.
Report Check-InWe sleep at the campground for 8$ a night
It’s clean and the lots are large
Little bit of nose for the train on the other side of the lake
we slept here without issues, it was winter though. the park technically closes between dusk and dawn. a few cars pulled up at night.. maybe a local hangout?
Report Check-InParking lot to walkers island. Got here late on a weekday and no one was around anywhere. Beautiful spot on the lake good for vans and rooftop tents. Campground closed at the end of September and is used by hunters beyond the parking lot listed. Pit toilets but no other amenities
Report Check-InArrived at 11:45 pm. The campground was closed so parked at a parking spot next to the entrance of campground path.
