Great spot on the lake. lots of place to camp. Picnic tables and grill in the area.
Would be super muddy if wet
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
So we were driving through Navajo and wanted a place to stay. This seems like the only free place, really, so we tried it out.
First of all, the drive to this spot is gorgeous.
The spot itself isnt the best. It is not trashed as others have said, though, I guess it's been cleaned. You can find some levelish spots if you try, and you can get off the road enough that the noise isn't so bad.
All that being said, this would be impossible if it had rained any time recently. Even now, it's dried up with a small snow melt dribble, we did some serious ice skating on the mud created by the ice melt. We are in a 35ft skoolie.... We have never had that happen before. If it rains, I'm fairly certain you would be calf deep in mud and your vehicle would absolutely not make it.
So yeah, good enough of a spot as long as it hasn't rained.
Report Check-InThis place is just okay. It will work in a pinch as it's the only place in this part of the Navajo Reservation where they allow people to stay. Ultimately, it's a trashed park that isn't maintained at all.
As others have indicated, finding a level spot isn't likely. There is no connection to Verizon service. Trash everywhere and stray dogs.
But hey, I just needed a place to stay for the night. All was well until around 0100, and the dogs started to bark...it was none stop barking for over an hour. I will pass right on by this one if I'm ever in the area again.
One good note... the stars at 0500 were amazing.
This is a nice spot. Finding level is a little challenging. Fire rings. Tables, on very poor shape. The bathrooms were disgustingly filthy. Nice views. Some road noise, which quieted at night.
Report Check-InGreat free spot. Beautiful view of lake. Got in with my minivan no problem but roads are rutted in spots and further in. Tmobile 2-3 bars but not much internet.
Report Check-InIt is still there and as described. Good spot across the road from the lake.
Roads are very rutted out the further into the campground you go.
Picnic tables at every site.
Free, good. I didn’t go into the bathrooms, so can’t comment.
3G T-Mobile service. Slow. 2-3 bars of 3G.
Report Check-InLots of places to camp. Across the road from the lake, so you don’t have actual access to it. It’s pretty though. Picnic tables, restrooms (closed), fire rings, a few grills.
Report Check-InAs described. Plenty of space to camp. Unfortunately not the cleanest of places as there is garbage around (even though there are garbage cans). Bathrooms still locked, assume they open later in the year. Few stray dogs around as well, very friendly.
Report Check-InGood spot as described but toilets closed. Were abstolutely alone here with our campervan. Lots of places near the lake. Great view.
Report Check-InNice place. We camped on northern side of road. Rough to get in but gets better. Metres from lake. Little traffic noise. This section would get muddy if it rained.
Report Check-InGood to stay for one night. The toilets were closed. Many spots available and for free.
Report Check-InLots of options for camping across the road from the lake. Picnic tables and pit toilets. The road up is pretty steep and very uneven, high clearance is ideal. Pretty spot!
Report Check-InGreat spot on the lake. lot of place to camp. Picnic tables and grill in the area.
