Description
Chimney Rock Travel Center is a truckstop/travel center that allows overnight parking. Located near Alturas, CA, immediately off Rt 95. It sells gas, propane, has a convenience store with restrooms, garbage cans and free Wi-Fi (slow). Very clean and the staff were friendly. The overnight lot is huge, level and quite! Verizon service was marginal. There is a small restaurant but it is still closed due to Covid. This was a great overnight stop for me in my 20’ campervan because there were high winds, rain, hail, sleet and snow.

As far as truck stops go, this is a great place to stop overnight. They are very welcoming and have an exterior bathroom open 24 hours with cameras and lights around the lot for safety. Quiet stop. There's even a nice open area adjacent to it that my dog was about to stretch his legs in.
Report Check-InGreat place to purchase fuel. Diesel at the Chevron was $7.58 today. It is $5.48 at Chimney Rock a couple of miles out of town.
Report Check-InGood clean facilities. Medium size convenience store. 300' x 300' (guess) newly paved parking lot. Lighted - might not want to park right under the light in the far diagonal corner (like I did). Reasonable gas price; buy here before going south into CA. Very lightly used - only two semi's when I was there. CA Ag check station 1 mile south - try to look honest and pure... Store (and toilets) closes at 10p, opens at 6a; looked like a porta potti in the NE corner for those in need but I didn't check.
Report Check-InThis is a great place to overnight. Huge parking lot that was quiet and peaceful all night. The staff were friendly and just asked that I not treat it like a campground and have a fire or anything. The fuel is the cheapest around and the convenience store was clean and I bought some sodas as a little thank you.
