Kelly’s Pond Road has numerous pull-outs that are free camping the entire length of the road. This spot can accommodate multiple large RV’s but not the other sites. At the end of the road there is a small established campground with water, electricity and showers but it is a fee area. Amazingly I get AT&T 5G cell signal here and it’s fast.
Be aware that during certain times of the year there are a lot of hunters. It’s very quiet and secluded considering how close to Houston it is. This is my third time here and never any issues. There is hiking and dirt bike trails midway down the road. Fires are permitted but firewood is scarce. Off road vehicles are also allowed. Enjoy!

This is a dirt road that runs from FS Road 204 down to Kelly's Pond Campground. The road is fairly well maintained, with a few ruts and bumps, but passable by regular passenger cars if you go slow.
There is a series of pull-outs all the way down. Various sizes and suitability for different rigs. Most of the sites were taken. We saw vans and small RVs, but mostly tents.
Note that Kelly's Pond Campground has a large parking area and then sites you can walk to, not pull-in sites. Also, it is popular with dirt-bikers, because of the multi-use trail that is adjacent.
On the nite we were there, people around us seemed friendly. However, there was someone blasting music for a while, and the kids at the next site over were making a lot of noise. There's also a fair bit of trash around.
Report Check-InAnother lovely spot along this road. There are several dispersed sites of varying size + shape. We had to drive up & down to find one I could navigate our Conversion Van + 6x10 cargo trailer into, and this one worked :) There a couple other larger sites, but they were in use when we arrived- as well as many of the others! (on a Saturday in December)
The road is hard dirt & had some potholes, but are avoidable if you pay attention. Overall, in good shape for being a forest road. Flat & mostly straight.
This is a beautiful, mostly quiet forest comprised of tall pines and peace.
arrived after dark and only stayed one night. our campsite was very small and full of trash including lots of toilet paper. disappointed but ok for one night where we slept in the car. I'm sure it varies by site
Report Check-InStayed here for 3 days in our big bus, it was great not too many bugs at all. Once you turn to get to Kelly’s pond before you get there, there are pulls off on both sides with little areas to stay. And if you continue down the road you get to Kelly’s pond with a large open area.We didn’t stay in the larger area because we saw there might be dirt bikes on the weekend and there were. They didn’t bug us though and they didn’t ride to late at night or too early
Report Check-InStayed two nights. Hiking trailhead up the road. Plenty of pull offs down this road that ends in parking area/ORV trailhead with a pond and pit toilet there.
Report Check-Inplenty of pull outs along road to camp ground. decent spot, some clearings are better than others. no service. if your near the end of the road there is a toliet in the camp ground at the end.
some what private although cars do drive by more often than I expected.
It’s a gravel road with several pull offs. It dead ends into the trail head and bathroom area. Has a large field with a few picnic tables. I thought it would be a large pond, however they are small and nothing worth seeing. Instead of going to camp along this gravel road, I would keep going a little ways down the the area with lake side camping. I only come here now when the lake side camping is closed from sept-march
Report Check-InNoisy on weekends. There was trash and a pile of poo in the pull-off I unfortunately chose on Kelly Pond Rd.
Report Check-InNice, pretty and secluded free site for day use or dispersed camping. It had about four sites at the end of the road and server also pull-offs on the road leading here. However, I use Sprint cell service and only had one bar.
