Google Maps has this address for this spot: 432 SW Kanner Hwy, Canal Point, FL 33438 which is a turnout from Highway 76 at Highway 98 at Port Mayaca. A simple picnic rest area with five covered picnic tables and no facilities at all, not even trash cans. Verizon signal is strong. Some traffic obviously but nothing exceptional. A pleasant overnight stop. The parking area across the highway at the lock itself attracts locals with loud stereos enjoying the lake view so this rest area is a better sleeping spot in our opinion.

I think you can overnight in the rest area.
Great views of the lake….
Old aqua-colored rest stop, with picnic tables under Ramada’s. Bridge Traffic is low at night. No toilets or water, just a place to stop. Very remote so lock it up at night. Near Florida Trail.
Report Check-InDecent place to stay, big dirt holes in the dirt road for the rest area. Fairly overgrown and right on a corner of the highway so trucks are always slowing down and speeding up. Verizon wasn’t really strong for me even with a weboost. I recommend getting here late and being very cautious with low clearance rigs.
Report Check-InThis wouldn’t be an ideal spot to spend the night or have a picnic as it is pretty run down and full of litter, but it exists for sure and I am confident you wouldn’t get the law enforcement knock here late-night. Added some photos.
Edit: Someone showed up with a Weedwhacker and a trashcan to pick up the litter as I was pulling out. So I imagine it would have looked quite different had I arrived an hour later and it might be a little more hospitable to spend the night.
