Beautiful lakeside camping, if you can get the pod areas! Other sites can see lake, but very close together. Clean pit toilets. We were only ones here this night. Went to bed after a nice warm sunny day, woke up to freezing cold with storm coming in. Time to head south...
Paid $11.00 for site, first come first serve.

$11.00 bucks a night, clean, pit toilets and garbage cans. Very nice area. Level campsites, we are one of to visitors here at this time. Quite and wonderful.

This camping area is very ice and clean, we have our own camping area with one other camper. It is very quite, clean and we are enjoying this site very much. They offer trash cans and pit toilet. The roads are nice, I’m sad that the lake is is Leo

$11 bucks a night primitive at this location. Main campground up the hill charges $26 a night plus an $8 out of state vehicle pass. Decent area. Only 2 other rigs here when we stayed a Thursday night. one pit toilet by beach access area, very clean. As stated a lot of sites seem to have their own little trail to the lake. no trash, pack it out.

Primitive camping is no longer free. As of July 1, sites are $11 per night

Report Check-In

Many of the sites are closed due to road closure/road work. If you go down towards the horse camp you can find a handful of sites. They were all taken when we arrived so we didn't stay. HOWEVER, there were more mosquitos than I've ever seen in my life. There were an unbelievable amount of them swarming everywhere. We debated staying in the area but decided against it based on the bugs. It was insane.

Really wonderful spot. All info here still seems correct, but figured a 2022 update would be good.
VZ service- excellent, some of the fastest we’ve seen anywhere (300Mbs down/20 up, although it may slow down with summer crowds)
Beautiful lake- probably not for swimming but nice to look at and some of the best rock skipping we’ve ever done
Only downside is the ~8mi of dirt road to get here. Overall the road is in pretty good shape, no significant ruts or anything, just some washboard.
Had an extremely quiet night and day.
Can’t vouch for the rest of the year, but at this time it is a lovely, peaceful place. Please keep it that way!

Very nice, clean, and quiet. Always a few other campers, but plenty of spots to spread out. Reservoir is nice, and some trails to walk. There is a hunting area very close by so there are gunshots on occasion in the morning.

FREE camping next to the lake. Right on the beach. Fire pits with grates at the sites. Great walleye fishing lake.
Seemed like a lot of cars driving down the road, not sure if this is normal, but it created a lot of dust and the sites are right next to the road. Also, the cars were going faster than they should so keep an eye on your kids.
Great cell service with Sprint/T-Mobile.
Things to note: there is game hunting allowed near by. Rattlesnakes live here. Bring your own firewood, water and power.
Our site had a LOT of ants, many ant hills, winged ants, etc.
We will return here again!
Edit: might not be back. Way too many cars driving up and down this camping “road”. And apparently there is a bar with a live band across the lake. So much for peace and quiet.

Great spot for primitive camping. There is also pit toilet near by.

Top marks for these campsites! Great lake for paddleboarding, excellent cell reception, easy in-and-out. Quiet.

Similar to the other reviewer before me, great place - but found a snake that scared the bejesus out of me 😬

Nice spot by the lake. Only complaint is there are a lot of bugs, the lake is not very clean, and we saw a snake on our site. Otherwise it's a beautiful spot and lots of space between your neighbor. Great Verizon reception.

Forgot to add pictures. Nearly all campsites have direct access to their own private beach.
