Something not right?

Description

Lone Rock NPS, Glen Canyon, Lake Powell, Page AZ. An expansive beach with fine clean sand. Plenty of room for dispersed camping. Much of the sand is soft and part of the entertainment is to watch stuck cars and RVs get free. Be careful. 4x4 and AWD have more success. 3 bars Verizon, sometimes slow. Scenery is spectacular. Water is 130 feet below 20 years ago and 30 below last year, but still clean and gorgeous. The wind blew fine sand everywhere during our two days here. Dump station and water are a couple of miles away at another Park service RV Park. Here there are pit toilets requiring a long walk. The automated fee station wasn't working so we couldn't pay.

This spot is one of our favourites we have ever stayed at! Don’t go down to the lower beach unless you have driven through sand before and in a 4x4.

The water is raising a ft. A day and it’s pretty warm and calm for SUP. Love it here!!

Beautiful spot with lots of open spaces. Be careful driving in and our as there are several paths to take but some are thick with fine sand/dust that you very easily can get stuck. We disconnected our 4x4 2500 series truck to go into town and almost didn’t make it out after picking a path that was too sandy. Our 32ft Coleman/Dutchman Lantern travel trailer fit in just fine. Our dogs enjoyed the water and we had a nice fire.

Should be 14$ for the night but the pay-machine was not working.

Very nice spot, lot of space, several fire pit, not so many people in late October.

Safe for every type of car as far as 30ft after pit toilet.

Beautiful sunrise and sunset !

Best to stay on upper beach rather than risk the lower soft sand. View and weather are beautiful. Easy to walk to water for a swim or SUP/Kayak day.

Because the Lake is almost 20ft lower than last year previous reviews can be confusing. there is hard packed sand past the pit toilets by maybe 60-80 feet. After that its soft til almost at the water. If you have a fifth wheel and a 4wd, then you will be fine. I have a 35ft skoolie and didnt want to take the risk after i watched a 40ft rv get stuck and his mates pull him out with a truck. Watched 2 other cars get help being pulled out in my first afternoon. Where im parked right now would have been IN the water last year, thats how far down the lake is.

Lone Rock on Lake Powell. Lots of sand so you need 4x4. The spot we are at is at the north end of the point and relatively flat. There is no water around Lone Rock anymore. Come during the week and it is not as crowded.

Report Check-In

All is ok as usual except the Lake Powell water lever is low so the Lone Rock is out of the water.

campsite on the beach, watch out for sand. We were there with 27ft long RV at the beach, but at the very beginning. A lot of space. Cost 6$ at the pay-machine

driving a 2wd car onto the sand I was so nervous I'd get stuck, especially after seeing a big RV get stuck but I stayed on the more packed rocky sand areas and was just fine. it was so windy I had to tie my tent to my hub caps. the water level was so low when I tried to swimming I stepped in and grey clay enveloped my legs all the way to my thighs and I had to army crawl out.

Great place to camp. $14 a night if you have a National Park pass like Beautiful American pass. They have water and a dump station that you can use. Also toilets and an outside shower. Be careful where you drive at on the sand some spots are soft and you can get stuck. Verizon cell service if you are in the right spot. Just a few hundred feet makes all the difference for cell service. But I was able to work from there on cell.
