Several sites here (and many earlier on the road). 2wd ok when dry, might be tricky after rain. Good AT&T, poor but usable Sprint/T-mobile.

This spot isn’t actually Top of the World (I don’t think we could make it there in our RV), but it offers a nice view along the way. We went past this marker a bit and parked out of the way on an ATV trail (around “Top of the World/Dolores River Overlook Trail Interchange” on Google Maps) in our 23’ Ekko (AWD stock Transit chassis).
It took us about an hour from the bridge since we were going slow. Had to stop and put some rocks under the tires to clear a couple spots, but not an impossible drive.
I’d recommend stopping at Cowskin Campground instead.
Report Check-InThe road is not that bad, if you have some clearance, I believe even 2wd if you got some experience. Theres now a sign of no camping, and no motorized vehicle. You can still walk to see the view though.
Report Check-InThere are a few campsite along the way to the top. DO NOT attempt to go.all the way up unless you have al LEAST 33s
tires and a 3-4inch lift or lots of clearance. we made it in our tacoma 2 km before the top and walked the rest of the trails. pretty amazing up there.
