Description

We asked around in town where we could park our campers for the night and this was recommended by locals. The parking lot in front of the Sótano de los Golondrinas was closed due to Covid and the restaurant at the junction wasn't open either.

You can park here along the road where the gravel part begins, either left or right. You might need to drive over the ditch to get level, but it was pretty level in the end and we slept fine. Only a handful cars and motorcycles past by and it was very quiet (Saturday night!).

I think it's safer to park here than in front of the entrance to the Sótano, and it is more level and quiet. Not great obviously, because you are still parked on the side of the road, but the best option around right now.

No cell service, but I suppose you would only stay here to see the Sótano in the morning or evening.

Latest Check-Ins

Parked just a little further up the road from this spot where it seemed a little wider. Great view. Some traffic on the road but it was only for a night. Good place to stage for the cave.
