Description

There are a bunch of primitive camping spots on this dirt road. You need an AZ State Trust permit technically, but we never saw a ranger come through. A year permit is only $20. Anyways, we’ve loved this spot! You can have fires on trust land if it’s not explicitly marked that you can’t. The spots are large and can easily fit 3 vans. The first two pull offs are easy to get to, the rest of the road is a little rough but we did it and have seen plenty of other vans go down the road. It’s a really beautiful spot!

Busy and can be tight if more than one big rig is already parked. Level site and fairly easy access.

Great spot for the night. Very easy to get to, no issues with the dirt road in our sprinter van.

Came here to hide from the cold front. Beautiful spot with good cell service and low altitude. quite clean. Close to a Safeway store and about 10miles from town. Has been pretty quiet with a few other nomads around.

First 2 spots were taken so we continued down the road a bit. great view, faint sounds of train in the distance but quiet. 10 mins off the 10 but worth it being away from the highway.

A nice pull through spot next to the dirt road. the only place we could fit our 29 ft RV. the other spots down this pull through are a bit rough and you will need four-wheel drive.

Found a good spot up the hill a little way. good cell signal, beautiful views, close to grocery. Past this point the road gets a little washed out but I think it is still two wheel drive capable.

annual permit is $20 for AZ trust land.
lots of space here but mostly high clearance.
lots of bike trails.

Stayed here on a Friday night, and we passed quite a few parked vehicles before we found a spot for ourselves. The road is rough but we made it in our van. We paid $20 for the AZ State permit. Beautiful views of the Sonoran desert!

This is a beautiful spot! We were there for only a night, but we had complete privacy. If you go straight down the main road before turning right here, there are private ranches. So we heard a few trucks go by but never saw any!

The desert is amazingly green right now because of recent rains, so we highly recommend this spot. But make sure to bring bug spray! Tons of bugs because of how lush everything is.

It truly was a beautiful spot and we’ll be back this winter to explore more.

Report Check-In

Beautiful vistas, great cell service, and only 15 minutes of the freeway. Occasional road noise, but mostly nature sounds. There are two campsites fairly close after you turn onto E Via Rancho de Cielo. After that, the road is uneven and sloped at times. There are more campsites and roads ahead, but be prepared for a bumpy ride.
