Lots of options for campsites along Caliente Mountain Road past the established campground. Some spots are larger than others, some are tent friendly. Fire pits are filled in. Please check fire restrictions in the area and be careful! Road is steep and narrow but accessible in any vehicle in dry weather. Most sites overlook the plain with views of soda lake. Expect windy conditions. Road ends with Caliente Mountain Ridge Trailhead. Occasional cars pass during the day, very quiet at night. Don’t expect complete solitude though, this place is fairly popular.
