Stayed here our first and last night on the island. Slept with our door open the first night due to the heat (bug screen mandatory!), felt safe. Nobody around at night. Great spot for sunset and a swim! Level parking. The vendors have fruits and coconuts for sale during the day.
BRING DOG FOOD if you can. Lots of underfed puppies and dogs roaming around. Very friendly.
Report Check-InSpent 3 nights here. Very quiet except barking dogs sometimes. You're 20m from the beach. Be careful of the height. We were 3m height and sometimes there are low branches

Report Check-InReally quiet and safe spot, beautiful view. Just lots of little (non-biting) bugs here in the rainy season, even with a breeze.

We arrived here upon the recommendation of some backpackers. We arrived at 6pm on a Saturday night and had a perfectly safe and peaceful night. Perfect for catching the ferry the next morning.

Report Check-InA beautiful and quiet place to stay for the night. We asked the restaurant owners if we could tent camp there, they said it's fine and does not cost anything. The toilet was open and there was also a shower, which we didn't try out. Recommended!
Report Check-Innice spot for a swim and watching the sunset. the administration was closed so we didn't have to pay for entry or to park our van overnight. some tables to cook and eat at, a nice cool breeze, and toilet facilities at the restaurants at the point.

Report Check-InWe stay there one night after the sunset , the beach is a little bit dirty , we paid just 28 córdobas per person , there is few restaurants with mostly local people. Was nice
Report Check-InGreat spot, loved it. Public recreation area on a perfect lake location. Entrance fee USD 1, overnight stay USD 5. Negotiated and paid USD 2 per night (one van, one guy). Stayed three (weekday) nights. Quiet, clean, slightly windy, no mosquitoes, toilets during day (water only from big bucket), good restaurants (good lunch approx. USD 5), nice people, great sunsets, beach to swim and wash (waters not too clear though), sun and shade available. High trucks might have to stay in the parking (still okay spot) due to trees. Was told that it would be very busy on weekends.
Report Check-InIt is not really a Campground, and it is not free. But a real nice location, where locals offering food, it is a local eco tourist project, with a nice beachstripe going in the lake.Amazing sundowner and view at the Vulcano.
The guard at the entrance charges 150 colones for the car and two persons. You can camp between the Restaurants. Its quiet, the locals leave at about 7 pm.
A bucket toilet is open.
We had a quiet niight.
But: a lot of bugs in the evening hour
This is a free campground. There's bathrooms and the lake to take a shower. There's a few restaurants here but they close at 5pm. Didn't stay here but wanted to mark it as an option.
