Tanzania
Dirt road for about 160km. But in very good condition now it's been maintained and a beautiful area to drive in too. Some very steep slopes which may require 4x4 in rainy season. Can be a challenge and become impassable. We had to wait for a bus to be extracted from the mud. For the adventurous.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Good dirt road still in November after quite some rain. One of the steep sections had no concrete. Two trucks slipped there and were blocking most of the road. We could just manage to pass. Anything bigger than us was not able to pass No idea if they managed to move those trucks out. Just for awareness that you can get stuck here.
Report Check-Inroad is ok but some part very bumpy
do not recommend in rainly season for motorcycle
The road is in really good condition, and they're currently doing some major works, so one can only assume it'll get even better (we actually found the section through Katavi to be way worse). There are some minor corrugations at one point, but overall, it's in good shape and a great drive.
From Mpanda to Uvinza took us around 4 hours, but we had to stop and tow a broken down tuk tuk for 15 km, so that set us back a bit! 😜
Report Check-InPerfect gravel road. Some minor corrogation at places but mostly in perfect shape. Beautiful scenery too. Definitely worth travelling this way.
Report Check-InThe gravel has recently maintained and is now all the way in good shape. Most parts you can drive around 55 kms/h.
Report Check-InAs described last month . Even a bit before mishoma it became better. It was way better then the road from Kibondo to Kasulu. We are here in dry season though
Report Check-InFrom Uvinza to Mishamo Village it’s a bit rough, many potholes, some muddy sections but nothing to worry about. Take it slow and you`ll be fine. The are improving the road from the south, so after Mishamo there’s a good dirtroad. After Vikonge it’s a brand new tar road until Katavi NP. On some steeper passages they put concrete. Nice and easy drive, took me almost 5 hours from Uvinza to Mpanda.
Report Check-InOut of rainy season this is perfectly passable, local 2wd cars do it all the time so slow and steady! Great route with beautiful landscapes and few people.
Report Check-InEarth road for about 160km. Some very steep slopes and will require 4x4. In rainy season can be a challenge and become impassable. We had to wait for a bus to be extracted from the mud. For the adventurous.
