Description

Before engaging in this road, you need to know some things.
it's doable with any vehicle
BUT from Boavita to Cocuy, it's steep, muddy, sinuous and barely asphalted.
We did it with a 7m campervan, but it took us 1h for driving 10km, so just imagine the ride.
The setting is nice but you just need to know that it's not an easy road.

Latest Check-Ins

We drove this road in two directions. Each time it took us around 3 hours. Some potholes and sections with no pavement, but generally speaking it’s not that bad. Just plan your time accordingly and take it easy :)

Report Check-In

Previous check-ins generally accurate. Total driving time Soatá to El Cocuy was 3 hours in a Toyota truck. There are a handful of sections, especially in the vicinity of this pin, that would be tricky but not impossible with a low clearance vehicle. As usual, locals have every kind of tiny car, and giant tour buses also are driving this route.

I just rode this today. No problem with an adventure motorcycle but it would be very difficult in some parts without high clearance. I did see one car but it was driving very slow. I passed a truck that seemed to have gotten stuck. I added some photos of a bad section but they don't show just how uneven the road is. A car would definitely scrape on the bumps.

Report Check-In

Road all the way to El Cocuy is 90% paved, and the potted parts aren't too bad. There was a pretty precarious river crossing when I was almost at Cocuy though. Had been raining for the past few days.

Report Check-In

I believe the bad section has be paved over as right now it wasn’t bad at all. Uvita to half way to San Mateo is good new pavement after that it’s standard damaged pavement interrupted by gravel section.
Certainly not horrible as described last year.
