Description

Big gravel parking lot. This is on the list for motorized camping spots in Michaux State Forest.
You need a permit (it’s free) to camp here so make sure to call ahead. However, this was a last minute decision for us (the park office closed for the weekend) so we decided to pull in and then ask the ranger for forgiveness should one stop by.
Plenty of space and, given the time of year, no one else pulled in to camp (yet). A couple of cars stopped to turn around.
Has fire rings. Good for big groups.
Decent AT&T reception.
Hunting season so wear orange/ be careful. Can hear gun shots in the distance.
Happy camping!

Latest Check-Ins

Large gravel level parking lot with 6 camp sites around the perimeter suitable for tenting. No one else was around so we used a fire ring, using some wood that was left there. Very quiet location with very little traffic. There is a nice hiking trail which is also used for horse back riding.

Report Check-In

Big lot, no others overnight. Quiet with walking trails right off the lot.

Great flat gravel parking lot that really deep and out of sight from the road. Perfect to let the dogs run or play a game of football (place is huge). Very quiet. no reception, NO bugs!
