Lots of BLM land in the San Luis Valley. Absolutely breathtaking at night! See the Milky Way across the whole sky...
Strong 3 bars with ATT. Check forecast for wind if that’s an issue. So many different roads (guessing ATVs although we haven’t seen or heard any) but we picked a spot next to an old water tank.
Easy access with some bumps here and there but no washboard.
Very quiet. Very open. Not exactly a shaded type of place but that works for us now that it’s cooler out.
Nice thing is that there is also the San Luis Valley Campground at the foot of the hills (if you need hookups) and they have coin laundry and $4 showers available. Spoke to the owner, have yet to do either. Nice to have those options right next to BLM.
Take your trash with you and safe travels!

Great level spot with no one around! Beautiful views on the mountains all around, and we were treated to an amazing sunset too.
We drove to the fork .3 miles past the water tank, take a right, and another few hundred yards to a very large spot with a fire ring.
Service is 2 bars Verizon LTE and 1 bar TMobile 5g
This spot is amazing! Great views all around. Even had some cows come by and hang out for the morning. The road in is a little bumpy with some washboard, but just take it slow and you’ll be fine. It was a little windy at times but it was never so bad that it was an issue. Enjoy!
Report Check-InGo past the water tank a mile or two, through the open BLM gate, into the beautiful trees. An immediate right turn, just past the gate, onto some 2-track will get you a more private camp site just past the one directly in front of the gate area. Ready for your hammock, campfire, and stargazing.
Report Check-InAmazing views, good quality road surface, extremely quiet, stars. Definitely a legal camping area
Report Check-InAs previously described. Very easy to get to. Nice and flat by the water tank
Report Check-InVery straight forward and easy to get to, road was a bit choppy and could bottom out low lying vehicles. But very worth the veiws.
Report Check-InLovely spot on an open plain. VERY quiet and great views! Bring your own shade.
Report Check-InSecluded area and very quiet. Fire pit at location. Easily accessible via trail and didn't require 4wd.
Report Check-InAmazing views. Perfect spot. There are showers at the bottom of the hill at the paid campground but they don’t own to the public till May 15th and their hours are 8-8pm. Road weren’t too bad.
Report Check-InIf you prefer more shade, drive up the hill for 1,5 mile and you will find a shady spot between some trees with a fire pit. Epic view on the mountains!
Report Check-InStrong att, five bars 4glte. No sprint or t-mobile service at all. Minor washboard coming in but not very bad. Be careful if it has rained or snowed recently as the road will get sloshy. Spectacular view all around (minus the tank), 10/10 would stay again.
