Latest Check-Ins

Camping area not open. As of this posting, the Army Corp of Engineers website did not provide a status of the camping area either open or closed or scheduled dates. It does however correctly indicate that the boat ramp is open and apparently the few sites in the parking lot area are available for dry camping. Dump station has concrete barriers preventing use and appears permanent with weeds growing up all around.

Report Check-In

We had a peaceful few nights here. It’s kind of eerily quiet — except when the trains or tugboats/barges come through, often, which is pretty cool. If you find a locked gate in the off-season, don’t despair — make sure to drive down the road a bit to the other gate — the boat launch is open year round and they are very open to campers in the boat launch parking lot and on the surrounding lawn area year round. Absolutely free! And there is an RV dump station. Nice trees, which is rare for the area. No Verizon service but you can park outside the Kahlotus library about 5 miles down the road and use their FibreOptic internet (even when they’re not open). Outhouse seems to be serviced regularly.

Tent and RV sites on gras, some leveling necessary for RVs, fire pits, tables, trailer parking, dump station during summer season, but closed when visited, drinking and flush water, toilets, boat ramp, trees for shade. Some trains during the day and almost none at night during our visit. No ATT, no Verizon.
