Large paved area. Enough room for many rigs. Far enough away from the highway to be private and quiet. Bears in the area.

Aug 16/23 check-in…there is a drive-in BC Rec Site just a short distance along the forest road just past the ski club building.

Report Check-In

The parking lot is ok but there is an easily accessed and formal BC Rec Site - Mud Lake. Turn off the parking lot at the “Welcome Castlegar Nordic Ski Club” sign. Ignore the confusing road access closed sign and drive 100 m past the Viking Centre ski club building along an obvious forest road. Mud Lake Rec Site is located a short distance from there. Room for 2 truck campers. Has an outhouse, picnic bench and there’s a small creek in behind. Some highway noise at 7 pm on a Wednesday evening but very light and shouldn’t pose a problem tonight.

Ps. There’s a beautiful large meadow suitable for walking/meandering about in behind the ski club building.

Report Check-In

Very accessible and private. We're hauling a 12-foot trailer plus our 2wd pick-up and no problems getting in or out. Doesn't seem to be anyone here. Many places to set up camp. There was some noise from the highway.

Report Check-In

Stayed here one night. Huge parking lot, not visible by the highway. Deserted ski lodge on the summer. There were signs showing Ministry of Forestry owns the land. Very quiet at night. No cell reception. Need mosquito repellent at night.

Report Check-In

For sure go past the ski hut, there are spots with tables and a pit toilet. Quiet, but not to picturesque.

Report Check-In

Great stop for the night! We ventured just slightly past the main lot mentioned, past the small hut and found ourselves on the actual dirt road trails. Many impromptu camping spots perfect for small and larger groups. Several others were nearby all doing the same. Amazing for mountain biking and trail running. We’d have stayed longer if we could.
