Just on the edge of this small village (15 souls) is this campground. Once probably a more busy spot but now almost deserted. The site is still kept in condition and is a great place for Overlanders, amenities are old and only electricity is still working. Around 25 places for all vehicle sizes and tents.
We camped here in July 2020 and were the only ones, very quite.
Great place for exploring the Big Muddy Valley and visit Castle Butte.
There are no fees or charges.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
This is a well kept campsite. The garbage bins were emptied while we were there. I expect the poor review was an exception not the rule. We were met by a VERY friendly black shepherd mix dog. You could hear him being called but the dog was more interested in welcoming us. The Big Beaver border crossing just south of town is closed. A large light in centre of campground so expect there was some electrical but didn't try. Didn't look for water or washrooms (not visible in the rain)
Report Check-InContrary to all the good reviews, not at all a good place on this date. The dumpster filled to overflowing with excess garbage on the ground; both men's and women's washrooms very dirty; the sites in general disrepair. We passed.
Report Check-InPretty much as described. And it’s not free. We paid $15 for a dry camping spot. Pay at the general store. Nice folks. Empty except for another group here on August 31st. Tiny bit of shade. Some restaurants in Coranach about 29 min west. Fuel also. Very peaceful.
Report Check-InThis is not a free campground. Signs posted you have to pay 15$/unpowered, 25$/powered sites at the local convenience store. Very laid back place. It’s got some trees for shade, the toilets are open. There’s picnic tables and fire pits/BBQs. Enough space for many campers, although it’s more likely you’ll be alone here. Big rig friendly. Very quiet town, horses close by and lots of cute little prairie dogs. Also two farm dogs strolled through, they were friendly.
Report Check-InVery quiet peaceful night. We were by ourselves other than the horses grazing across the road. Remains exactly as described by others.
Report Check-InIt is realy a wonderfull place. Very friendly locals. A good place for a stopover in this amazing area. Still free.
Report Check-InAs mentioned this is a great spot to camp for free. Water is working but I didn’t try the electrical hook ups. No Rogers cell service. Population is now 12. Stop at the RM office and they will open the Nature Centre for you which is across from the campground
Report Check-InPerfect, quiet little spot overnight while in the Big Muddy Valley and Castle Bute area. No services at all in October although there may be electricity at the light standard. Easy free spot 👍
Report Check-InTotally agree with the description: old regional campsite but grass is freshly cut and still maintained Very quiet at night. .
