AWESOME VIEW NESTLED IN WITH A VERY WELL MAINTAINED SMOOTH ROCK AREA ONCE IN THE AREA YOU CAMP IN. Very clean area delighted to camp here. Met someone who was already here who was very polite. ( didn’t know the person ) only complaint is no cell service until 3 miles out. We have Verizon. No cell signal booster yet. But despite that it’s an AMAZING place to camp. Road coming in wasn’t terrible. 2wd will be fine. Nothing to robust. We have a truck camper 4x4 but heavy so we don’t like real wild terrain. Just Cruz in and you will be fine. Some locals with homes as you come in so drive slow to avoid dust and noise. It’s a country road that nestles you back in the hills. Slight wind. Wasn’t too cold this time of the season. We have a catalytic heater so we are cozy. Slight breeze tonight at 2:25 am on Saturday April 20-2024. Public bathroom was not desirable to use though. Whomever is in charge of maintaining it has not been around to do so. Beautiful spot though. You will not be disappointed. Despite the train noise you will hear birds talking ducks and whatever other critters are around here. Stars shine pretty bright too. Happy Trails yall. As always. Pack it in and pack it out. We don’t wanna give the people who use these campgrounds and app a bad rep. This life is AWESOME!! Tread lightly. Leave no trace.

Report Check-In

Nice secluded spot we stopped at from going between Yellowstone Nat Park & Glacier Nat Park. Dam had bright lights all night and 1 vehicle came in at around 2am & left a few minutes later. Place has drop toilet, picnic tables, & camp fire rings. Camping is permitted here but didn't seem like it was frequented much. Trains didn't really bother us.

Report Check-In

Pretty much as described. Secluded campsite with an upper and lower section. Road to get there doesn't require 4wd or clearance, but is pretty washboarded at times. Trains were still running 5x per night, but otherwise quiet.

Report Check-In

Many different and secluded sites and pull-offs along the road to use. Some require 4WD, most don’t, but I wouldn’t recommend this spot for large rigs or long trailers. Incredibly scenic with river access at several points.

Know before you go:
The road in is gravel for about 4.5 miles. It’s well maintained as it is the access road for the hydroelectric toston dam (which is fully functional). That being said, the upper campground is partially illuminated by the working lights for the dam at night.
Directly across the river is a railway that is very active; 5 trains passed between 9:30 pm and 8:30 am. They are neat to watch, and you can feel them rumble! But for light sleepers, this may not be ideal.
No ATT or Verizon service. But 3 miles up the road from the dam ATT 3 bars Version 1 bar LTE.
