Several campsites with picnic table and metal fire pit. Above the lake but trail leads to lake shore. Not really private but big spaces. It was very windy when we were there.

Came here hoping to let the dogs play in the water, but noticed lots of green algae right along the shore. Not sure if it's dangerous but won't be letting them swim. Full 5G service on Verizon. Many, many campers here but still plenty of room if you want to tuck in-between others. Nice cool breeze coming in from the lake and nice views. 40 minute drive to Helena for supplies.

Loads of campsites all over. All with a decent amount of space for each camper. open grassy fields. I came here mid-april and had no one camping within a quarter mile of me, despite the next campsite being 500 feet away.
Extremely windy. Batton down the hatches. My tent didn't stand up for more than a day at a time. Weather reported wind gusts up to 40mph.
5G high speed service with AT&T.
Hope to come back in the summer when there's probably better weather. But at this time of year, this lake seems to have its own weather, and is the only camp spot that wasn't completely snowed in and what little snow that fell while I was here was melted within the hour.
Vault toilets with stocked paper, but bring your own if you don't like using single ply.
Stayed here in a 4runner, would stay again.

great spot right on the lake! beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. lots of spots with picnic tables, fire pits and pit toilets. not many people here this time of year, so extremely peaceful and quiet, easy to find a spot with privacy and no bugs. tho it is quite cold at night and in the morning. cell service is also great.

Great spot along the river. Plenty of room and potable water at the Marina close by.

pretty sure if every boondocker in North America descended on this place you could still find a spot.
lake looks nice but it's full of green algae so a bit rough to swim in.
There is a full established campground just a bit further down and you can pay $1 for 3minutes for showers and the host welcomes outside visitors.
Amazing sunsets, deer to watch, pelicans on the lake, fish jumping, it's great..

What a GEM! I could see the lake as I drove up to the campground. Plenty of picnic tables and fire rings. The lake was just lovely to swim in!

Plenty of boondocking spots beginning at lower duck creek road and headed north to Confederate Bay. Insects are a problem, stay away from the trees and bushes and you'll be fine. Good AT&T and Verizon signal.

Great spot with level places to park. Lots of neighbors but space if you want it. Fire pits. Good T-Mobile phone service. Beautiful view of the water. Campground just down the road where you can take a shower- quarters required.

What a glorious spot on a small cliff over the lake. Just took a bath in it and it was cool and refreshing. The smoke from the fires to the west is here but certainly not as bad as lake Anderson in Idaho where I started the day. A true gem.

we stayed July 13 thru 18. this place was magical. been on the road for a while and this had to be one of my absolute favorite campsites. it's big and sprawling. there were a lot of people that came over the weekend but during the week it was about half empty. there is readily available lake access and the water was warm and clear. lots of huge fish in it for anyone who likes fishing. walleye and carp I think. additionally there is a brand new campground within walking distance next door. it's not free but they have coin operated hot showers in the bathhouse, and fresh water and a dump station. and a boat launch. I would go back here in a heartbeat.
Also the crazy mosquitoes referenced by others are not mosquitoes. they are little green bugs that do not bite. there are a lot of them. and the people talking about wind are right. two big storms rolled in around 8 pm two of the nights we were there and the wind was very strong. shaking the bus, blew all our screens out of the windows and our water tube away. I had to go chase it down. still would go back. I loved it.

If you enjoy camping around others, this is the place for you. Arrived June 18th, not knowing what to expect. Crowded and lots of dogs barking. Weather was nice and plenty of spots with tables, fire pits and pit toilets. The ground is relatively flat and room for large rigs and trailers. The grounds is also mostly rock and dirt.

This spot is wonderful. A good number of people, but still plenty of spots and still feels private. Camp free up to 14 days. When we got here in the evening on 6/15, it was WINDY. Like 20mph winds and 30+ mph gusts. When we moved to a spot with a windbreak, a ridiculously large swarm of bugs moved in above us. Debating leaving, but really glad we stayed. The swarm left after a few minutes and the stay has been incredible. Walk just a little to the rock beach of the lake. Nobody was out there and we spent hours skipping rocks and enjoying the warmth. There are pit toilets around the camp and showers nearby, as well as a shop. It’s about 45 minutes to Helena so everything is close by as needed.

100% worth it.

Really nice place to camp. As described, a lot of open spaces so even when it's full you can find a spot. Fire rings and picnic tables and saw at least one pit toilet. We stayed here 2 nights. It did get very windy at different times while we were here so we moved a repositioned the van a bit to not get pushed around so much. Also got pretty buggie at dusk when the wind was gone. Just swarms of little flying insects but they weren't biting. Beautiful camp regardless. Sunsets over the mountains were amazing.

Report Check-In

Free but lots of neighbors, mosquitoes were out of control. No breeze. Nobody was outside if their trailers. Thankfully our friends van had AC or we would have been eaten alive. But the views are beautiful! With a breeze im sure it’s a lot nicer!
