Description

This is a free Idaho Power campsite. There are 20 numbered sites, 5 south of the dam and 15 north of the dam. In addition there are BLM sites north of the Idaho Power sites. There are two pit toilets north of the dam - one located at site #1 and another located at the end of the road in the BLM area near a trailhead.

This location is for #20 which sits right on the Snake River. It is beautiful! There is a pit toilet nearby at the boat ramp.

There a nice park at the damn with restrooms.

Swan Falls is in a canyon and there is no cell service at all but we had a bar or two of LTE at the top of the hill leading into the canyon.

I think all sites have fire rings. Some sites have picnic tables.

Our first ever camping spot in our van couldn’t have been better. Canyon views, river jumping with trout, pit toilet, fire ring. Popular with anglers. Lots of activity. A lot of flies, but that comes with the territory.
We stayed 3 nights at site 19 it was a perfect rest area for us before embarking on our cross country adventure. Highly recommend!

Beautiful free camping spots right by the river. Very quiet and peaceful. There is a steep paved grade to get down to the camping but nothing of concern. The wind picked up substantially during the night. Our RTT did just fine but we noticed some ground tenters have some issues. Would definitely stay here again.

Amazing place! Site 20 is such a primo spot! You can also walk across the dam and they said this may be one of the few dams that let you

Beautiful canyon but it’s share of bugs by river during drought. Sites near boat ramp seem pretty good, I ended up on canyon rim where paragliders take off - some nice spots with grand view or river canyon…good for a night unless you boat/fish. Oh, and watch out for small pets - I’m pretty sure some lady lost her small dog to a raptor. And good cell service from above. Found site on Friday of Labor Day weekend, so likely always something.

Beautiful free first come first serve sites.

I came on a Friday afternoon. I figured it would be tough to find a spot, but I got one, not on the water, but close enough. It was SUPER busy all night. People kept pulling into my spot shining their lights on my car. Lots of teenagers it seemed trying to party. Lots of RVs with loud generators. And people start driving in at 5am to fish. Probably won’t go on a weekend again. But the area is really beautiful.
