Ecuador
I was on a solo bike tour from Ecuador to Ushuaia. On today’s ride, there was one hotel at 0.5 km, then nothing, not even in Yangana. There I was told by several folk that the covered “Cancha” (sports stadium) was free for tent camping. This had open sides, bathrooms, water and 110V inside the bathrooms. There was no internet service in town. My Claro SIM card did not have any service, but I learned later that certain spots had a usable Claro connection, for phone calls/SMS only. (No internet).
I camped for 1 night under cover in the Cancha (sports stadium) in Yangana. This was a worthwhile camp. Pros: Free camp. Bathrooms had sinks, lighting, water,110V, and were open 06h00-23h00. I camped on a smooth clean covered surface above the Cancha. See photo. It had a convenient bench and trashcan nearby. Folk in town were friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed dinner at local restaurant (07h00-19h00). Stores had adequate supplies and were open 06h00-21h00. Cons: Noise and bright lights in the Cancha until about 23h00. Thereafter there was loud music until about 01h30. After that it was peaceful. No barking dogs. Traffic was a bit noisy until about 21h00, and from 06h00 on.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Nicefor sleep one night
good but some noise children play all time, church colorful :-)
Still here and still a stop if you are looking for a covered camping area. Tienda is right across the street in and (depending on the day you are there) you might see kids/youth playing around the cancha. It’s also right next on the highways but with a big wall so you are absolutely not seen from the road. It’s a nice view from the cancha; you have the colorful church near by and some nice palm trees 🌴
It’s nice. We stopped but did not stay but it’s still here :)
