Latest Check-Ins

Nice grassy spot with stream, open to sunshine with view of steep wooded slopes, the sound of lovely birds I am not familiar with in the distance, an owl at dusk, and even a humming bird that came twice to check us out. I think she was attracted by our red collapsible cups. The thistle is in bloom and is attracting lots of butterflies, moths, bees, and maybe that hummingbird? There are a few crickets chirping in the distance and a nice breeze rustling through this canyon and the trees above that give it such serenity! As you are facing the creek with the road behind you, the sun rises to your extreme left and sets behind the trailhead around the bend to your extreme right. Sun throughout the day which will heat our portable shower. There is no cell phone reception, or if it is, it is spotty. There are a few bugs but they are not too bothersome. Bring a fly swatter for entertainment. While we are camping here, we are not allowed to burn the wood in the fire pit. Yes, there are multiple places people have had fire pits, but really only one or two nice ones with stones. When people pass on the road, they are nice to slow down (not stir up so much dust) and will wave. We have neighbors down at the far left with horses, but they are friendly and quiet. Honestly, it is nice to have someone around. We kept an eye on the horses while they rode into “town”. If I had to sum this place up in one word, it would be Serene! We love it and feel like we are actually getting a vacation. No phones, no demands, just beauty, quiet, and a chance to be lazy, read a book, journal, nap, …you get the idea. If it were not for iOverlander, we would have never found this spot, and yes, it is free!
Update: on weekends there is more traffic and dust. There has also been more flies. Maybe from horse manure?

Found the place right off the road. Few fire rings and dead carcasses. It is hunting season and we saw a hunter and few pick-up passing by. There was snow near the forest. Very quiet at night. We couln’t get out of the van because of the hunters. Not a good season to come.

it is off a dirt and gravel road. I made it just fine in my 2 wheel drive truck pulling my trailer. there are several places to camp here and I was the only one camping on this road. The trail heads are about 100' from this site. there are cows grazing here which was kind of cool. They were all around my trailer. lol! Very flat, grassy spot. maybe 20 min or so from the town with restaurants and supplies.
