Namibia
3k from the farm there are 2 campsites, each of them has 2 sites with ablution blocks. Very clean, calm, only little groups. Go first to the Lodge, not too late. If possible, make a reservation first. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
campsite 2023 now 305pppn
Very nice for hiking and birdwatching.
We don't have any photos of this place yet.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
This place has two camping spots a few kms away from the farm / reception. When we arrived without a booking and were told they’d both already been booked - I think booking ahead is probably wise for this site.
As it was getting late and we were on bicycles we asked if they had some spare land for us to camp on and after some deliberation they agreed to let us camp on a spare bit of gravel by the toilets on the farm compound itself - we essentially had a private warm shower and toilet so that was good, as well as wifi from the farmbuilding - but it cost 300pp which was too much.
There is a little shop here. Tinned fish and tinned fruit, some crisps etc but I think it’s mostly set up to sell basics like flour and oil to the workers on the farm.
Report Check-InWe have been for three days at the Lodge. Nice to stay there, good horses and nice trips for horse riding. You can go for hiking or just chilling at the pool. They have horses and sheep at the farm.
Report Check-Invery nice quite campsite 305N$ pppn
this place is perfect for hikers and birdwatching
they have different very nicely marked hiking trails from 1 to 7 Hours.
And after a long hike you can cool down on the Farm in the pool.
There is a good WiFi at the Farm for free.
We were the only guests … but we didnt really feel we were particularly welcome.
The camp site is actually 3 km away, but as it was a hot day and the swimming pool at the lodge looked very tempting, we asked if we could stay on the farm’s compound. After some deliberation we were - although with explicit reluctance - allowed and could use a designated toilet/shower room at N$ 250 ppn (the camp site, which does not have a pool, would have been 305 ppn).
We had dinner at $395 pp, which was far too much for the tough goulash we got.
We planned to go on a half day tour, at $720 pp, but as we asked what this all included, it was just that we would have been driven up a mountain from which we could walk back – we canceled.
We could give our cloths for washing: $150 per load
Wifi would have been charged extra … we skipped it … there is a very weak mtc signal.
Instead of staying for two nights, we left after one night.
