Stayed in the peaceful friendly town of Saint Marys before our ferry trip to Cumberland Island. Parking is allowed for 36 hours and we enjoyed our time in town. We ate at the local restaurants and walked around quite a bit. Bathrooms are available in the park.

This place is a gem! Still free 36 hour parking, I parked in the lot across from the street. Cute park and no issues. Bathrooms and nice walking spots when I woke up!

Spent a very peaceful evening here under the shade of the lovely oaks in this spot. Quaint little town!

Really nice spot to stay overnight. Quiet through the night (I arrived at midnight, though)

Site as described. There are signs in the street that state 36 hour parking. We stayed here on a Friday night. It was noisy with music and probably teenagers until about midnight. Like other posts have stated, it must be a local hangout for kids. Parking was well lit and our Verizon and At&t cell service worked well. It's a beautiful area with quite a few restaurants, and we felt safe. There is a building at the park with bathrooms. I didn't use them, but my husband said the men's was dirty.

Très bel endroit! Vraiment tranquille! Il y a possibilitè d’aller faire des randonnees sur l’ile en face en prenant le ferry qui est 38$

The parking lot is for those taking the ferry to Cumberland Island. I spoke with a volunteer working at the Visitor Center. He said they don't check, they just figure people parked there are on the ferry. The sign at the lot says 36 hour limit.

stayed here a couple nights comfortably. local kids do seem to like to come sit in their cars and play music but it never lasted a long time or during a time I was trying to sleep. there are other places around town you could park to avoid even that noise if you want. bathroom was never locked that I noticed. quiet little town. next time I will plan better and take the ferry to Cumberland island to explore.

Nice place. Pretty cemetery (pictured) across the street at southern end. Not much happening in this area today but very quaint and beautiful.

I stayed here in my car the night of 2/21/22 (President's Day). I parked in the back of the lot, which felt very private. As another review mentioned, the park across the street is apparently a gathering place for local teenagers. There were loud groups of them coming and going until about 10PM when things quieted down considerably, I mean VERY quiet, like no cars passing or anything. It ended up being a pleasant stay. The bathrooms in the park are open 24/7 which is very convenient.

I parked on the street, water side, in one of the long pgk spaces. There was a truck with a trailer next to me all night. While I felt safe (solo female) I would recommend parking down the street, instead of parking in front of the children’s playground. Loud groups of teens showed up until 1am to party on the playground making it difficult to sleep. This was on a Thursday night.

Great easy spot to park, right near the water. Bars and a few restaurants a short walk away. The double length spots, and 36 hour max are clearly listed, and there were at least 10 other vans while I was there as well. There are bathrooms and running water in the public park right off of the main drag. i recommend parking on St Mary’s W, between Wheeler and Seagrove St, to be away from the main town intersection, but still near the bathrooms

Great location in a beautiful little town. The park was fantastic and we enjoyed walking around there and on the piers with our dog. Spectacular sunsets and crazy tide exchange!!! High tide really was HIGH TIDE!

We stayed in the parking lot but understand that parking is allowed on the street anywhere along the water front. Will definitely be back to explore the area more.

Fantastic spot! Enjoyed a gorgeous sunset last night in St. Mary’s, GA. Then took a stroll downtown to @seagles.restaurant and enjoyed a terrific dinner of crab stuffed mushrooms and grilled redfish! MMM MMM GOOD!! Took a stroll around the waterfront park and back home for a peaceful, quiet night doing some stealth camping. It’s the parking area for Cumberland Island National Seashore and they allow up to 36 hours of parking. This is a great spot with amazing sunrise and sunset views and super peaceful! Locals are VERY friendly!

Great place along the river. Parked in one of the long street parking spots. Lots of folks walking by one evening and morning but otherwise quiet. As stated previously, 36 hours of parking is allowed.

Perfect spot to spend a few days! Cute little town. Over the weekend it was packed (December 2020). The longer parking spots are 36 hour parking and the smaller spots past the boat ramp in front of the restaurants/boutiques is 2 hour parking from 8am-6pm daily. There are more parking spots with no time limits near the B&Bs down Osborne. I almost didn’t come over this way, so happy I did!
The longer spots can fit big rigs - saw plenty of pickup trucks with a boat trailer attached that fit in fine.
