great road finally !
Large gravel pull off area with room for multiple large vehicles. More pull off areas across the road and farther down the road. Easy access to Picketpost Trailhead. Easy access from the highway. Room for horses and large rigs. Near trailhead and hiking areas. Multiple flat spots.
Beautiful landscape.. amazing saguaros!
One of the many open spaces along the dirt road to the trail head. The trail head is day use only so this place is about 1/2 mile away. A little road noise from Hwy 70. Cows walking right up to the camper.
Very pretty sunset. Perfect place to camp and do the mountain in the morning
Update: my enjoyment of this area diminished by the day due to over crowding and road traffic. Moving out earlier than expected. Ok spot for a night or two while visiting the area or passing through.
Report Check-InNice campsite. Not secluded, but convenient to both town and great hiking trails. Easy access in and out. Decent Verizon cell coverage as well. It was crowded in early March when I was here. It looked like there was a large equestrian group camped together, but I’m not sure if that’s normal for this time of year or not.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot right off the highway yet very little noise from it. Few police cruiser came racing up the trail for some reasons. Was nice to sleep with Coyotes howling during the night and cows just walking around. Had a great hike the next morning around picketpost mountain. No at&t cell reception inside the van and slight reception outside.
Report Check-InBeautiful little spot. Some highway noise but not too bad. Verizon worked well. Couple spots. Some nice hikes nearby and pit toilets.
Report Check-InGreat area with several spots. We were aiming for a campground an hour up the road and just couldn't make it. These sites are easy to get to even in the dark. We didn't explore too much when we came in because it was dark but we woke to beautiful views all around. This will be our go to spot when traveling through Phoenix.
Report Check-InGorgeous. Love it. Found a secluded spot near pin. Some road noise, good cell service.
Report Check-InGreat spot under the mountain. Plenty of firewood around. Some cars coming and going to the trailhead but very quiet after that
Report Check-Ina favorite easy sleep spot on the way in or out of Phoenix. the road is loudish so it's not for those looking for a peaceful wilderness experience. other than that good hiking, huge lots for big rigs. no one around tonight, Friday night in November 2020.
Report Check-InEasy access from freeway with maintained dirt roads. No overnight signs at the trailhead but nothing posted along roads below. Full verizon bars.
Report Check-InBeautiful place. Many spots to camp. Pit toilets at parking lot trailhead.
