A beautiful place to stay for a few days in the sierre de la ventana. very good for hiking. the manager (Thomas Meyer) is Argentinian but his parents are from Bayern, Germany. You will love this place! gps-dates are only appr. please check the website www.fundacionfunke.org.ar

Only open from Thursday until Sunday, and on holidays. You have to get permission and instructions here to drive on to the parking for the tree pico hike, 4 km further down the road, it's on private land. You don't need to take a guide to go with you.
Report Check-InLovely quiet shady camping and good hiking . Road conditions quite good in February , so regarding previous comment maybe seasonal issues.
Report Check-InClosed today (still closed from monday to wednesday for camping, also for overlander….. :-(. One of the badest roades we drove in 6 month(now in our top 5 )
Report Check-InWhen we arrived, nobody were there, all the camping facilities were closed. A lot of dogs, they jumped at us and even snapped at us. Nobody cared, althought the dogs barked loudly. We left the place!

Report Check-InUpdated the gps coordinates. old ones took you to somewhere. pretty nice place but the shower was a dribble warm. good stop if you plan on doing the hike.
Report Check-InYou reach the place on a bumpy road. GPS coordinates and contact details are as mentioned not correct but does in fact not matter as the Enstancia Funke is well known. When you are on the way from the Parque to Tonquist just take the bumpy road on the left after Villa Serena la Gruta (follow the signs). The place is really nice, they have a kitchen where you can cook and washrooms. fast WIFI too. Its the perfect base for hiking...from here you can do tours to the cerro tres picos. Despite to the very touristic tour with a big group to the cerro de la ventana you can go alone here and take your dog. It's a pity we did not know before. At the Turismo Funke dogs are welcone, too, but please notice that there are a lot other dogs. ..nice and clean from the owners but also neglected ones from the workers of the estancia...so if you have a relaxed stay with your dog or not depends on yourself.
