Description

Campsite on the rise. Local surfer Tomar just started this place with help from his German friend Lena, before Corona came. Which made things quiet for a while. But now life is slowly coming back and there is a great camping area next to coconut trees. hidden and calm where you can pitch your hamog and chill without destruction. You even find drinking water from a natural source. If the tap happens to have no water, which it sometimes does, cause it crosses a whole community of fishermen before arriving at Anunu, there is always the chance to get water directly from the source, which is a 10 minutes walk.
the place has an amazing beachside where you can hang out in the shade of the coconut trees, stroll along white beaches, blue water and red stones for hours without getting tired. Or take a surf class or rent one of the surfboards from the best local surfer Ezekiel, which started surfing on wood planks until Lena brought him and the other kids some donated boards, in exchange for going to school, collecting rubbish and teaching each other in surf. Just ask Tomar and he will hook you up with Ezekiel. The village of Sassandra is only 20 minutes away by car to do your shopping basics. you get fresh and smoked fish, attieke and some basic foods 4 minutes walk from the camp ground in the little fishing community.
Or you just ask Tomar to cook for you some amazing local dish.
the idea of Tomar and Lena is that this place can create him an income and the local surfers have a place that they can call their club. When Lena and her husband Mohamed are there, they teach English and Yoga. They did build a schooling house for workshops and projects. The goal is to help the kids to help themselves, be kind, take care of their environment, and reach out to the (Surfing)world at one point on their own.

Access with 4x4
3500cfa per night camping.

Latest Check-Ins

Relaxed campsite beach side, there are many villagers passing but they didn't make us feel uncomfortable. There was very limited surf when we visited, it was further towards the village, very shallow and rocky. The sea was way to strong to swim outside the camp.

Tomar was friendly, every day bringing us coconuts. The final part of the track was very steep, thin and uneven, but we managed with our 3.5 ton lwb sprinter van.

Stock up on food in Sassandra, there is nothing to buy nearby. The price is still 3500 per night

A very beautiful calm place to stay right next to the beach. There is wonderful shade from the palm trees. Great that the site and beach had minimal litter. A good place to chill out for a day or so.

Report Check-In

Perfect place directly on the beach. Shadow from palm trees. the access is really okay both for 2wd (Mercedes Sprinter) and 4wd (Toyota Hiace).

Report Check-In

Really enjoyed my stay here, signs now posted at start of grassy bank. Could be steep for bigger rigs.

Amazing view, one of the best in Ivory Coast we think. Toilet is good and with view as well ;)
Close to a village but nothing much to buy there (sometimes bread and eggs, sometimes not) so make sure you buy food in advance.

Thomas (and not Tomar, be careful) is a fantastic person. I wish him the best. The place is really really nice and peaceful. We had such great time. Thomas does everything he can to help you and to welcome you. The place, like paradise, is between two small villages, so a lot of people from one goes to the other one, you will meet a lot of persons, and children from school that only wants to say hello :). Bonus : some goats are passing by everyday. You can easily buy some fresh fish (maybe with Thomas if he got lucky during the fishing night 🤞🏼!) U can take surf lesson with Ezequiel and buy beers, cigarets and other things at his mum place, close to Anounou (and not Anunu !!) eco surf. Thomas doesn’t speak English but he would like to learn. I really like this guy. He is the most smiling person I’ve met in my trip !

Amazong place, amazing food, chill out vibes. Now also possible to sleep in a little house❤️

there is nothing here. no surf, no place, no service at all.

This might just be the most beautiful spot of our trip so far. Scenic beach, lovely spot under the palm trees and relaxed atmosphere. The spot is located between two small fishing villages so there are a few people passing by all day long but that didn’t bother us. Thomar kept bringing us coconuts and was very friendly. We paid 3.500 CFA per night. Only for (small) 4x4 vehicles. Even though the track seems fine at first, it gets really tricky in the end. It’s definitely worth it, though!

Beautiful beach camp with welcoming owner. Very limited water, owner brought us a small bucket, tap did not work. Still 3,000 CFA for two people and a truck. Access is tricky requires four-wheel drive high clearance we came down a grassy bank some kind locals showed us. Added a picture of us coming back up where you make the two consecutive right hand turns.

We stay there only one night and regret not being able to stay more!
Mohammed, Tomar, Ezekiel and the crew were very friendly, toilets were clean (with a nice view indeed), bucket shower and camp directly on the beach.
You can learn to surf with Mohammed or Ezekiel!
Beware the last part of the track is quite difficult, including deep sand if you want to camp under the coconut trees. 4x4 needed.

Beautiful place, felt like paradise. Very quiet but the local fishing village is just a short walk away. We felt very welcome, enjoyed cooking and sharing food together and the facilities are good enough to feel comfortable for a few days. Simple bucket shower with bamboo screening and a unique toilet with an awesome view! We fell in love with this place ❤️

Report Check-In

We enjoyed our stay here a lot. Tomar took very good care of us. The toilet is installed and has a nice view into the green. Bucket shower was absolutely sufficient for us. At the "Poste d'observation" in the village above, you can get nicely grilled fish/ chicken and cold beer. Staying at the beach side means you are directly at the walkway of the locals. For us it was nice, because we could chill all day in the hammock and could buy bread and many other things from people passing by :)

If you have questions, you can contact Tomar +225 (0)709879248

This is a great spot, everything as said by Seanahook. the toilets are not yet here, and by the time we were here also no bucket shower offered so no amenities. however the hospitality of Tomar makes up for it! Don't come here if you want your privacy during the day, the village youngsters are there to keep you company (in a nice way). You can charge your devices close by, just ask Tomar. Need 4x4 to make it down to the beachside

Super cool place that is just coming back to life after corona did make it quite for a long time. Tomar is very gentle and helps in Everything. Beautiful beach, amazing surf, yummy food , even vegan possible, stunning landscape, will come back for sure

Report Check-In

Tomar is the most kind and gentle soul. we loved our stay here so much. We parked in the shade of the coconut trees, with a view out to the ocean and surf! Tomar picks you the perfect coconut every time (tonnes of experience). a lovely outdoor bucket shower, the toilet is underway and should be finished soon.
Lena and Mohammed were there too and surfed with us every day. The aims and the ambitions for the place to become a fantastic community space are really exiting. it may be pretty obvious but we loved it here! If you ask nicely Tomar may be able to get you some fresh coconut oil and it will blow your mind and found a lovely lady in the community to help us with our washing. They didn't ask much for us to camp there, just asked us to pay what we felt since it isn't complete. I think we paid about 3000cfa a night, we had such a good time!

new campsite on the rise. local surfer Tomar and his German girlfriend just started this place a week ago. there is already a great camping area next to coconut trees. hidden and calm where you can pitch your hamog and chill without destruction. shower and toilet will soon be there too. You even find drinking water 500 meters away in a natural source.
they have an amazing beachside where you can hang out in the shade of the coconut trees, stroll along for hours without getting tired or rent one of the surfboards from the local surf club which they founded 2 years ago to support the kids from the local area. the village of sassandra is only 15 minutes away to do your shopping basics. you get fresh fish, attieke and some veggies 4 minutes walk from the camp ground in the little fishing community.
As soon as the kitchen is finished their will be a little restaurant too.
the idea of Tomar and Lena, is to turn this place step by step into their home, and a community project with environmental education for the kids and support in their surf and school education.

As soon as the toilet and shower are finished it will be 3000 cfa per night for the camping. Before you can give what you feel like you get this place going

Report Check-In

This place comes very close to the term "Paradise". Lena and Tomar are building up a wonderful little campement for those who enjoy the tranquility and purity of nature close to the sea. We spent over 10 days here, swimming, surfing, enjoying food and rest our souls for a while.
Tomar is an excellent cook, and will take care of you.
