Description

This is called Winter Park. Parking is north of the road and park and ticket sales on the south. Tickets to Medain Selah and other attractions can be purchased here. see photo for other attractions. Medain Selah cost was 250 SAR pp. credit card accepted. you then take a bus from here to Medain Selah where you get on a different tour bus with tour guide. supposed to last 3 hours but took 5 hours. plenty of time to explore and take photos.

there is no point to driving to Medain Selah they won't let you in and they don't sell tickets there. Supposedly, this will close on March 7 and reopen in October, check their web site. tours are only Thursday-Saturday but the sales people said open Sunday too.

you can also buy package deals with private guided tours and hotel for up to 4000 SAR.

This region is strikingly beautiful and resembles Moab, Utah. They don't realize what they have here. you could easily spend a week or 2 exploring the area.

the Saudis have a lot to learn about tourism. but they do run a smooth ship - if you can figure it out.

Medain Selah was interesting but not as impressive as Petra, but still interesting. they are still working on opening up more areas to tourism.

Latest Check-Ins

To correct the other posts : it is opened in April at the winter park visitor center and you can book your tickets for all the Al ula activities (including Hegra = madein saleh tour).

Report Check-In

Try to buy tickets at least 1-2 days in advance online. We tried to buy Hegra tickets on the spot but we're sold out.

Well worth the money although relatively expensive at 95 SAR. Bus leaves from here but you can also drive to the Hegra entrance yourself.

Tour felt quite rushed. First the guide explained in Arabic, then in English. After the English explanation we had to get back to the bus right away. This left barely any time for pictures.

Everything else very well organised: welcome drinks and snacks, water during the tour, good guide.

Report Check-In

This information is only from November to March. In the season April - October, there is nothing in the winter park. Tickets can then be bought from the office in Old Al Ula. You can then drive yourself to Hegra visitor center from where the bus leaves.

Report Check-In

Tickets are still 95 sar pp. There are buses going from Winterpark to Hegra every half an hour. Very well organised.

Report Check-In

We are here on a Friday and there is only one bus tour going at 16:00. Price is still 95 SAR pp. You pay at the kiosk here and they send you your e-tickets in your mail.
