Something not right?

Description

Lots of spaces for wild camping with fire rings near a beautiful glacial moraine.

The road in from hwy 108 is 4x4 high clearance only.

But seriously. Not i-Overlander "4x4". I aired down and used 4x4 low with my Chevy truck and small popup camper.

If you get a 2wd Sprinter van up here, send me a picture and I'll buy you a whole case of beer when you get to Reno. It could maybe be possible with a lot of luck and a very skilled driver.

If you have a suitable rig and a couple days to spend at the lake, the drive is totally worth it.

I second the flip flop guy, pretty gnarly drive in; I’ll throw a 2nd case of beer in for pics of a sprinter up here. Insane views and nice and secluded!

Awesome spot. Lot of other cars though, probably like 15. No dry wood around for fires so must bring some. Road wasnt as rough as a few sources said, made it up just fine in stock tacoma trail edition just took it slow. About halfway up road there is a washed out area though with some large rocks so wouldn’t recommend going up while pulling anything

Road is temporarily closed. Will probably be reopened once they clear out the damage.

still awesome, but really busy. Please be respectful of this beautiful place. Hike to the rim for a beautiful view at nearly 10,700'

Report Check-In

Pretty busy over the weekends, lots of sites but not near the lake unless you show up early on Friday. Road to the South end of the lake is closed.
