Road from the nearest village to the fortress is a bit rough, but passable for 2WD.

Lovely views of the shore, interesting history of the German contribution to the transatlantic slave trade. And ask about "Jan“ and the connection between this fort and some parades in the US and Caribbean! Very interesting!

Prices as of 3/2024:

Night in room per person: 50
Delicious dinner: 60
Breakfast: 40
Guided tour around/about the fort: 50

Rooms are clean, bucket shower from the fort’s cistern, toilets a bit „rough“. There is electricity (if there is in town) and the caretaker John will prepare you a delicious local dinner.
Bring your own drinks as he doesn’t store any and has to rush down to town to get you any. So come prepared.
Safe parking in the yard.
Way up to the fort is s bit rough with deep washouts at the steepest part, but no problem with motorbikes and normal car sizes. Vans should expect to get scratches and trucks are a no-go as the trees are too low and the way too narrow.

The fort is the only German fort in this region, so very interesting to visit, especially for Germans. You can drive up to the fort with smaller cars, we didn’t try with our big rig because the path was in bad condition because of heavy rain, and there are low branches. But it might be really nice staying here. It’s 30 Cedi per person to stay overnight. The people of the fort and of the whole village are very friendly and helpful. Beside visiting the fort you can also do a canoe tour or visit the village. The people can also show you a place in the village to park overnight if you don’t want to drive up to the fort.

This place is really beautiful, and the wind from the coast is so good after a long trip. There is a path to see the view next to the ocean, and the beach is just a few meters away. Bench have been build to enjoy the scenery. I went swimming and saw birds, monkeys and a lot of lizards.

Actually they ave a problem with electricity so the fan was not working but they will repair it.

I paid 50 for the room, 50 for the visit. you can camp here too and negotiate the price, maybe 30.
