Same as previous posts. You pay by length of vehicle and for all passengers (driver counts as a passenger). Dogs are free and need to stay outside.
Food options on board are limited (pop/soda, coffee and energy drinks are available for purchase) and you have assigned seats on your ticket.

Unfortunately, we booked a ferry from Chaiten to Quellon out of high season (last ferry of the season) and the night before departure (6pm) found out our ferry was cancelled (via email and text message) and we were booked onto the Puerto Montt ferry. Not ideal, but make sure you have cell service in case of changes (our 3pm ferry was cancelled less than 24 hours before sailing and the ferry to Castro was also cancelled the day before departure- next ferry to Castro was 3 days later).
The ferry to Puerto Montt was scheduled to depart at 11 am and left at 3:30pm, since the arriving boat was late.

Make sure you pack patience and “the joy of the adventure”, and maybe a bottle or two of wine and then you can enjoy the ride!

Si comme nous, vous achetez votre billet à l’avance sur le site internet, il vous faudra passer à l’agence avant l’heure d’embarquement pour imprimer les tickets (véhicule et personne).
Il faut être au port 2:00 avant l’embarquement.
La traversée Chaitén-Quellón dure 4:00.

Be aware. They will offer you the 20:00 ride which costs twice as much and 14,000 per person, even children/babies and driver. The won’t tell you. This is non-refundable. Very very very „insert unfriendly adjective here“.

Booked ticket for 8 am departure to Castro with NA, but ship didn't show up, nobody at the ramp knew anything, NA never sent a notification like they said they would, and no customer service available until 9. Sailed on Somarco ferry instead, also at 8. Now trying to get a devolution

We paid 30'000pp and another 188'600 for the van to go from Chaitén until Castro. Expensive !

We bought the tickets to Castro (Quellon not available at the moment) at the office in the city (same prices). You have to be at the harbour one hour before departure and line up (the queue goes all the way to the main road... a bit dangerous). There are toilets on board, big seating room and also seats outside on the upper deck. We had a great weather for the journey (a bit more than 5hours), beautiful view. There's a sanitary check point at arrival, just have to show your c19.

there is two companies in the same place : naviera austral (wich made direct ferry to puerto montt and others to chiloe for example) and transporte austral (less expensive but more longer).

we choosed transporte austral and payed 91 000 CLP for two passengers and one car (5.7 meters long) to do caleta gonzalo - hornipiren in 5 hours.
then we drove to caleta puelche and take another fery for 10 000 CLP. it takes 30 minutes.

the views are greats. you can buy food in the ferry to hornopiren.

Booked tickets here direct. Booking online can be a bit long winded and not always successful.

Both companies operate a waitlist for vehicles, so if you are flexible and not time critical you can opt for this but it is not advertised online.

To buy your ticket from Caleta Gonzalo to Hornopiren you have to go to the small building in front of Naviera Austral.
We bought one day before the trip, no problem.
We paid 40 000$ for a van and 2 people (34 300$ for a van and driver, 5700$ aditionnal passengee). Can pay by card.

To Quillon from Chaiten costs 97,000 pesos for van/furgon/truck + 2 people. Driver is NOT included in cost for the chaiten to Quillon ferry. So 13,000 pesos per person and 71,000 pesos for vehicle. Ferries leave at 10am every Wednesday and Saturday

Not sure about costs for motorcycles, bicycles, motorhomes etc.

Buy your ferry tickets Caleta Gonzalo-Hornopiren here (siesta ends at 3 pm). There is no possibility to buy the ticket on or before the ferry. There is one at 8.30 am and one at 1 pm. You have to be at the ferry one hour before sailing. 38500 Pesos for a Defender and two adults. Safe travels!
