Description

One of our most favorite spots in Belize! it's a very pretty little restaurant right on the beach with hammocks picnic tables and some palm trees for shade. Shanon is a cool and relaxed Garifuna dude, who cooks delicious food (different to the meals you usually get in Belize - try the filet fish with coconut rice, fried plantanes or steamed vegetables it's amazing!!!). He let us park right at the beach front for 5 BZ per person (more parks in the yard - see photo). He also accepts working for staying / food. Basic toilet and shower, good WiFi, no plug ins for power, no shade for the car.
Overall it's a lovely place to spend a few days and relax by the beautiful ocean front! Shops are in walking distance, which is handy too. Also we were driving around the ocean side for quiet some time - this is by far the best we could find!

Latest Check-Ins

We stayed one night at this place. I think Shannon increased its prices. He asked 10 BZD per person and we paid 30 BZD per person our plate at his restaurant…
Next we moved to the other place “Zwinging Armadillo”, good and free 😉 with other travelers.

Great place. We parked at 5 m from the sea on the beach, in-between Nice Cream and Luba Laruga. Check with people where it is OK to park, some parts of the beach have soft deep sand. Stayed 4 nights for free. Great meals at Luba Laruga.

Had a great night's sleep here, felt very safe. Shanon the owner is very friendly, good wifi, $5bzd/person, beautiful spot with a nice breeze so no bugs. Don't let the low key appearance of the place stop you from eating here. We both had the Lobster dinner, great price, amazing meal, highly recommend.

We spent two nights here. It's directly by the sea but there was a lot of seaweed when we were there. We paid 10 bzd per night with access to wifi, toilets and water to refill. Be careful not to leave anything outside at night, we were robbed of a chair that was folded under the vehicle.

excellent location, friendly guy, right opposite the beach. Great stopover.

For sure one of our favorite places in Belize! Shannon is very nice, you can park directly at the sea, beside his cosy little bar and restaurant for 5.00 Belize $ pp/night including great Wi-Fi, cold showers and toilets. He cooks wonderful food, has chilled music and serves the best rum and cokes ever! We wanted to stay one night only but at least we stayed here for 3 nights! Don‘t miss to visit this place and meet Shannon!

Place is nice to hang up at several restaurants directly at the sea. Unfortunately the beach is full of garbage ☹️.

Toilet and simple cold shower are available. Price is 5 $ pp.

Report Check-In

Spent 1 night here. Right on the beach, 5BZ$ pp. we spent a quiet night. It has toilet and cold shower. The wifi works ok, if you park close to the restaurant it can reach the van.
The restaurant is one of the best in town! We tried the belizin beer (good!), coconut rice and plaintain chips. Paid 20bz$ for 2 beers and food.

Stayed there one night after we had a not welcome chat to the point “park town”.

We paid 5BZ$ pp for a quiet and peaceful night. The beach is a few meters from the parking spot. The kitten is still willing to play with everything !

Still 5B$ for one person in tent. Very chilled and safe place and Village. Almost no tourists around, Shannon is very kind and friendly. WiFi, picnic tables, cold shower and toilets. Just a note for tent camping: be careful if you have a good tent. He has a small playful kitten now that likes to jump and scratch your tent. I got several holes. luckily mine was old and already but waterproof

Stayed here couple of nights. Shannon is super chill and cooks delicious food. Try the garlic potatoes! We brought fish from
somewhere else and he cooked it for us for $ 5 BZD. He has a very cute cat called Spicy.
Would recommend staying here as it’s super chill vibe. We has trouble finding a leveled ground though.

The best spot to park the van or camp in Hopkins hands down. Shannon is an absolute legend and incredibly welcoming. Opening the doors of the van to the Caribbean Sea every morning was an absolute joy. The food’s great too!

Best place in Hopkins to enjoy the beach, the pier, local vibes and delicious food that Shannon can cook for you. Toilets and shower are present. Our nights were quiet dispite Easter Weekend. Shannon will let you park in his back yard, we felt completely safe. Definately recommend!

After visiting cockscomb we prefer to come to sleep to hopkins (only half an hour). Shannon was really nice. He asked us for only 5 bz each person. We slept in our car with doors opened for fresh air and felt safe as the police is in the corner...also in the corner you can find free wifi. Waking up there in front of the beach and the peer was glorious. The bathrooms are not so clean but you can go ahead (i share it with respectful frogs).

Safe place . The owner wasn’t here …
Spot on the beach is really nice
Nice restaurant around, go to lime tree if Luba laruga is closed
Odyssée et ses 5 aventuriers ( we go to Argentina..: follow us on Instagram and fb)

Chill place. Can get a little louder in the evening. The owner is a great guy. If you're looking for something else... El Castillo camping little further south is still open eventhough the last check in here was 2018.

Shanon, the owner, will let you camp next to the restaurant close to the beach. He said he finds it very nice that people go to his spot because one person once put it in iOverlander, was very thankful for that. He also can cook some great Caribbean food for you. You can use the toilet and shower as well. The spot is basically at the end of the street so it's very public. But the people around are nice and relaxed, so we found it a good stay.

You'll pay a bit for the night, everything else is up to you. Happy vibes!

Report Check-In

Nice place to sleep and friendly chilled owner. You camp on the street at the end. It’s not sooo beautiful but ok. At night there are a lot of dogs barking. It’s still 5 BZ$ per person.

You can eat at the little restaurant. Good fresh food (for example whole snapper with fried bananas for 15BZ$)

We spent one night here. Everything as described. Shanon had music on when we arrived in the afternoon but he said he would have closed by 9pm. It was raining so he actually called the night pretty early.
Very nice spot to stay.
