Something not right?

Description

We came from LaPaz looking for a place to sleep before driving to Uyuni. We found this lonely flat area behind some hills, so you can’t be seen from the street, even though you can here the cars. No 4x4 needed, very quiet, only saw lots of bugs in the morning:)
The coordinates are the beginning of the dirt road on your right separating from the ruta 1. Just follow the road until your going down between two hills. Behind the hills you just can camp everywhere or go further down if you want less traffic noise (isn’t much though)

Nice place hidden from the road. We set up our tent on the edge of a field about 250 meters from the highway. Not really level but should be possible to find a better place further down the dirt road. In the evening a friendly lady walked by and talked with us but had no problem with us staying. If you’re on bicycles and coming from Oruro, you can easily cross the highway here (50 meters behind the spot entrance, there is a crossing that could be used by cars as well).

Had a quiet but very windy night at this place. After leaving the highway we followed the dirtroad for about 300m until the junction (one side leads through the dry riverbed and one about 5m until the cliffs where the bridge used to be - see picture with markings). Watch out, the left street ends after about 10m with cliffs!
A farmer drove by and faved back friendly.

For all those who (like us) are on the wrong side of the highway (=coming from Oruro): there also is a gravel road coming from Oruro. You can park a few 100m from the road, but are still visible. Good for one night.
Otherwise you can make a u-turn in the next village.

As stated by others. Great spot. Very quiet. Endless views of hills over the high desert scrub.

Nice and quiet spot for a nigth. The coordonates are the begin of the dirty road. You can continu. You can go with a big rig. You can't be seen from the main road.
